    Incredible

:BangHead: I don't get THAT from any Chick tracts...I get that from years of watching the negative effects of the consumption of alcoholic beverages upon people that I either directly know or am acquainted with...not to mention the endless stream of broken men and women that daily file through the doors of our local Rescue Mission and places like the great old Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago. Why don't you try your arguments out on THEM. Also...most of the people I've known in my 58 years on this planet that have been "social" drinkers loved anything and everything BUT God...and MOST of them would never admit to being alcoholic...whether they were OR NOT...and many of them were without question. They just couldn't see it and refused to admit it if they did. Your arguments in favor of drink are lame to me and always will be. If you can prove that the production, distribution and sale of intoxicating beverages is a Godly, Biblically-based endeavour that is favored by God then maybe I'll begin to listen....but I know that will never happen.

Again, your experience with alcohol and alcoholics is not a universal experience. It is YOUR experience.

Again, your experience with alcohol and alcoholics is not a universal experience. It is YOUR experience.

I'm not arguing in favor of drink. I'm arguing against the idea that drinking in moderation is a sin and that most people that take a first drink are merely on the first step on the road to alcoholism.

This thread is (basically) about whether or not working at a beer distribution center is a sin, and by extension whether or not drinking a Mike's Hard Lemonade or a beer or two is a sin. It's not about whether or not God is in favor of breweries. Sheesh.

Wow - You run with a pretty screwy crowd!

I drank for...let me think this through ..... had my first drink at 19 (not counting the sips I'd have of my parent's drinks), and we started working with our college group when I was around...oh jeepers...37??? So that makes 17 years of partaking in wine - and not once did I ever get drunk (once when I was taking some medication, I felt a little dizzy and it might have been a "buzz" but I think the medication helped it along since it was only a wine cooler). I do not recall once where my "testimony was ruined".

I don't RUN with any crowd, i have talked to these people in the work place and i know what they stand on. Some people had to work at real jobs to make a living you know.

This still going on? Oh, it became a alcohol vs abstinence discussion, or, as it is more accurately described, a "my god is my belly" vs "sacrifice of love" debate.

As to the original question, if yer conscience ain't clear, quit and look for another job.

    Sheesh. :BangHead:

The problem today of people eating fast food is a generation of young girls that don't know how to cook or sew. Home ecconomics has been taken out of high schools back several years ago. Free schools don't serve home cooked meals that were prepaired by school cooks and their helpers. I grew up eating good holsom meals in school. Young girls use to learn how to cook by being cook helpers, all of this ended in the eighties. My wife is a good cook that seasons her food while she is cooking it and she can sew and make quilts, dresses and anything she wants too. We do go out to eat but we eat fast food in moderation.

    It may be time to.....

It may be time for me to "abstain" from this thread.....maybe...my forehead is getting sore :BangHead: . I don't feel I have to win every debate or argument I get into...but I do have to at least feel that there is some valid reason for engaging or continuing in it. I'm kinda at an impasse. My advise to all in this and most all other matters here on the Baptist Board is that I hope we will all do that which honors the Lord who gave ALL for us and seek to be pleasing to Him. That should always be our benchmark. Death to self and the desires and passions of our fallen flesh.:flower:

You forgot eschatology and Covenant vs Dispy vs NCT...

And to the OP, I haven't read the 30 page mess that your question spawned, but I would say that if it offends your conscience then find a new job. But make sure your conscience is grounded in the Bible and not man's opinions.

Often think about this when reading threads here.

What role does the Holy Spirit play in "make sure your conscience is grounded in" .... ? In our individual lives, where does He fit into a person's convictions regarding both God's word and opinions of others?

Well I submitted my resignation today and they will mail me my checks. I know this will tick them off but the job has had a negative influence on my testimony and spiritual walk as I have had some cuss words come out of my mouth more than normal, and other negative thoughts have come to my mind. They love sex music, cuss words, at this place. Also finding another job is impossible working 6-4:30pm M-F.

I have enough money saved up so I will not default on my credit cards, however my student loans is another matter, but I will find a job soon Lord willing. I am not paying rent at this time so that helps….

Thank you. They were very loose on safety at that warehouse anyways and I have 6 years industrial experience! Having Credit Card debts would be the least of my concerns when compared to the bigger picture of my testimony and a lifetime injury. I will find a job soon.

Tanya Tucker just got through singing the old rugged cross at George Jones funeral. George's wife said that George was looking down from heaven on all of this and saying, i didn't know i had as many friends. The sad part of it all is these people actually think their going to heaven without Christ. A bunch of blinded people.
