Evangelizing children

I have passed out many tracts to kids before and some tract companies make children's tracts. I have had a few tell me not to do it, but I do it anyways, as I do not discriminate on age, sex, color, or origin. I pass out tracts to all people. There is no law against me doing so, and if the parents do not like it then I move on to another lost person, but passing out tracts is not against the law, and if children were not to be evangelized some tract companies would not make tracts for them.

The other day ago someone tried to stop me, but no law or legal action because I did not break a law, and I simply will stop if a parent told me so, and its only a few that did that, as I have passed out hundreds of tracts to kids without parents bothering me.

What has been your experience with evangelizing kids? Some think its a bad idea, but they need not to discriminate on age, sex, color, disability, or origin. Evangelize to all people.

I have seldom experienced problems, but once a mother complained because the tract scared the kid. I didn't ignore the complaint. Instead I tried to evaluate whether or not I'd given a tract designed for an older kid to a younger kid. (In this tract, hell was graphically portrayed.)

Unfortunately, in our society, children are taught to NOT talk to strangers - and it is always possible for an over-zealous parent and/police officer to actually arrest you.

It would be so easy for a parent to say you inappropriately touched a child - (even if you didn't) and if the police officer responding has dwelt with these kind of cases, may be overzealous in "correcting" the situation.

I'm not saying to stop witnessing to children, but use extreme caution. Also you may want to check your church insurance - if witnessing on behalf of the church- to insure you have taken all precautions.

When your target kids, it may be best to have a female and / or youngster with you.

Who would teach a child in this day that it is OK to talk to strangers or even suggest to do so is OK and that those against such are wrong?

Our 3 year old daughter loves to say 'Hi' to everyone and ask their name, she's in a state of curiosity and we are here to protect her with truth. We have no clue about any of these strangers she attempts to befriend, let alone the ones we allegedly 'know'.

Talking with my wife recently we both expressed the sorrow contained in having to at some point express to her the realities of our world. That is, that such an thing is not always safe.

We will therefore at some point have to teach her that talking to strangers may be unsafe.

I don't think children should be approached by a grown man (stranger), period. It teaches them to trust a stranger and it's just creepy.

You can use a setting like VBS to evangelize children.

Salty, our society has been in this shape a very long time. Speaking as one who was taken advantage of as a child (and I am now 54 yrs old), children are off limits to strange men. But maybe I'm too sensitive about this subject to make a judgement. That's entirely possible I admit.

I dont target anyone I target lost souls. And when I pass out tracts I do so in public places and the parents are always around. I just pass out tracts to anyone and everyone.

VBS is not exactly my style. I am a street evangelist. I just pass out tracts to anyone and everyone.

Good News Publishers and Chic Tracts are two tract ministries that make tracts for kids. I have tracts for adults, for the proud, for the humble, for kids, for hispanics, and all types.

Then why does Good News Publishers, Chic Tracts, and others make them for that audience? As I said my objective is the lost, and I have tracts for all types. But when I do pass out tracts I do do in public areas as a street evangelist.

I wouldn't give a Chick tract to anyone, let alone a child.

As a parent, if you approached my child, you'd be risking your health. I don't appreciate strangers approaching my children, no matter what the reason.

I hate the world has to be that way, but it is what it is. A strange man approaching my children is danger signal and I respond as such. You'd get a warning first and if you didn't back off right quick, well, it would depend on the place as to whether I dialed 911 or took measures into my own hands or both.

You want to give a child a tract, give one to the parent first! Then ask if they mind if you give one to their child. That is just good common sense.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, when my daughter was young I would not have allowed you to talk or even approach her. Her spiritual training was up to me, not you.

They all received them, and I got no negative response from any parent for doing so.

We need to obey Jesus and he welcomed children and encouraged children evangelism.
