What do you say about him? I rarely hear about him anymore. I have one of his books about the Seduction in Christianity but have yet to read it. Is it or he worth it? Perhaps he is a bad news bear and I am aware or believe he is a 5 point Arminian.

I understand that his book, What Love Is This, is an excellent refutation of Calvinism. This alone would make him someone I would recommend.

Yes, he has written a book refuting Calvinism.
Anyway, he's with the Lord now, having passed away a couple of months ago. The only thing I know about him is what I read in his newsletter, The Berean Call. My mom is a subscriber and passes the issues along to me.
In the newsletter he seemed to concentrate on topics involving the modernization of church ministries and influence of secular thought on Christianity. He would frequently write articles denouncing "seeker sensitive" ministries (Bill Hybels, Rick Warren), Kingdom Now believers (IHOP), mystical experiences like prayer labyrinths, Yoga, psychology, experiential revelations, etc. He would constantly be complaining about the falling away from sound doctrine and the apostasy in the Church, but I rarely read anything doctrinal or evangelistic from him. He seemed to be a fault-finder to me. There were times when my mom would hand me the newsletter and I'd just sigh and think, OK another issue railing about Christian psychologist, or yoga, or The Purpose Driven Life.
I read some of his stuff back when I was a Finneyist. Nothing outright heretical, but it's not very good and is pretty shallow. Given his fans, I guess it has to be shallow.
Why waste your time and money on Dave Hunt, when there are so many good theologians available to you. Do yourself a favor and get some S. Lewis Johnson works, instead.

Never heard of him. Who is he? Or would it better to read John Piper, John MacArthur, and Ji Packer?

He was a Reformed Baptist theologian mentored men like John MacAurthur.

I would say that Johnson, although lesser known, is on a par with those men.

Hunt's books are far from shallow. He did much research before authoring any of them. He cites people and gives references throughout his books.
I remember studying thus man in seminary or at least referencing him in a History of expository preachers class. Very good, but like Dr. Martin Llyod Jones kinda boring and requires a great attention span. But very deep.....
Really? That's odd. It's always been my understanding that he was known for being able to communicate complex doctrinal and theological ideas into everyday language for those who weren't necessarily theologians.
The very deep part, I agree with, but hardly boring.
Would suggest JI Packer Knowing God as a good primer!
Again, he was very good in christian cults and new age theology, but not so much in formal christian theology!

I see nothing boring with MLJ. If you read as much as you say you do, your attention span can stay in tune with him. He's not nearly boring.
How is he so deep if he is so boring? I listen to his sermons weekly, and for his 40 some minute average I never lose interest.

To date I've not witnessed neither you or those of your ilk offer one thing theologically substantial.
As a matter of fact you've offered nothing even theological. Drivel? Oft. Exegetical? Never.
I second the fact that Hunt was shallow. I also think he was a nice man. I met him at a minister's conference years ago (I was the only non-minister there). I bought a bunch of his books back in the day as the expression goes.
There is a world of difference between Hunt and D-M-L-J. The later was certainly not boring. He (and I will put it in the present tense) is challenging and spiritually stimulating.
