End of the world could be 1000 year from now?

End of world as in - End of the age of sin and rebellion.

Do Baptists teach that the second coming and End of the world could be 1000 years from now?

What say you?

Or is it - the millennial week? 6000 years of sin - followed by the 2nd coming and the 7th millennium of rest for the earth?

Baptist don't teach any 1 thing with unanimity especially concerning eschatology.

Personally, I believe that it will 1000 years from tomorrow at 7:11:16 pm precisely. This is taught clearly in Hezekiah 4:18-31.:tongue3:

Now that is "absolute truth".

The reason for that is because we search and study the Bible for ourselves rather than get our ideas from another person or their books.

Yes but the Bible speaks of "one Lord, One Faith, One Baptism". The Babylon of confused doctrines is one of the complaints of the RCC against Protestants claiming that we are left with mass confusion by our not listening to the RC pope and RC ecumenical councils.

I differ with them in that I don't think that mass confusion has to be the result.

Given the abysmal record of the SDA where it comes to making predictions...

I find it more than slightly amusing that bobryan wants to go anywhere near this topic.

Well we found many predictions that came true on one thread.

And when you tried to find problems with it - you could not find anything to complain about without condemning Jonah and Moses as part of the wild assumptions you were making.

That little bit of board history is "instructive" by every measure.

And the details are not as hard to actually read as some have imagined.

What thread was that?

Because I can assure you that we all missed it.

Exactly what predictions came true?

That there will be an earthquake some where some day?

I predict that the sun will come up tomorrow. Does that make me a prophet too?

That some of those at the SDA convention a hundred years ago would be alive to see Christ return? They are ALL DEAD now.

Exactly what predictions came true?

Read page 1 - and see for yourself.

That there will be an earthquake some where some day?

In 1902 thek epic 1906 destruction of San Francisco was predicted. Nothing like that natural disaster in all of the history of California to this very day.

Read the actual page.

You really need to stop accepting SDA propaganda uncritically.

There were four major earthquakes in that area between 1892 and 1899.

So predicting an earthquake in 1902 at some unspecified date in the future is like me saying that there will be a hurricane hitting the Florida coast someday.

No kind of a prediction at all.

As to the damage caused it was the fires burning the wood structures that caused the loss of property and life - not the earthquake itself.

The next prediction on your linked page is even more silly...

"There is going to be a war someday."

There have been very very few times in the history of man that there has not been a conflict going on somewhere in the world.

Again - no kind of a prediction at all.

I predict that a tornado will strike somewhere in the Midwest within the next five years.

Does that make me a prophet too?

You have struggled with real life facts sooo often so far - it is hard to say what we can compare this to for you.

But since you "appear" to be interested in how this example of real life contrast to your random ideas -

In 1902, she warned that the cities around the bay area of California would suffer disaster. She wrote this: "Not long hence, these cities will suffer under the judgment of God. San Francisco and Oakland are becoming as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the Lord will visit them in wrath" (Evangelism, 403-404). [/FONT]

Those who heeded Ellen White’s warning left this area and avoided the earthquake of April 18, 1906, which devastated the cities mentioned!

The San Francisco earthquake of 1906 was a major earthquake that struck San Francisco and the coast of Northern California at 5:12 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 1906.[3] Devastating fires broke out in the city and lasted for several days. As a result of the quake and fires, about 3,000 people died[4] and over 80% of San Francisco was destroyed.

The earthquake and resulting fire are remembered as one of the worst natural disasters in the history of the United States[5] alongside the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.[6] The death toll from the earthquake and resulting fire is the greatest loss of life from a natural disaster in California's history.

That is a FACT.

Making a prediction in 1902 that there would be another earthquake at some unknown date in the future is MEANINGLESS.

Why is this so hard for you to comprehend?

You really do need to start getting your information from sources other than the SDA propaganda machine.

Bobryan you really need to start reading sources other than the SDA library.

"A large earthquake struck southern California in 1857, and two earthquakes damaged San Francisco, one in 1865 and another in 1868. The latter collapsed buildings and killed several people."

Earthquakes were and are common in California.

I never tire of posting this wikipedia article on the historic 1906 event that hit San Francisco - in response to those who "imagine" that such things happen to SF all the time.

The San Francisco earthquake of 1906 was a major earthquake that struck San Francisco and the coast of Northern California at 5:12 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 1906.[3] Devastating fires broke out in the city and lasted for several days. Curious that you now seem to want to credit SDAs with authoring wikipedia.

The gross equivocation you are attempting between "other earth quakes exist" and the 1906 event that wiped out 80% of SF and killed more than 3000 --- the largest natural disaster in all of CA history - --- "noted".

Since the facts are not helping your story - -you merely circle back to ad hominem.
