I hear that Mark Driscoll made an attempt to crash the John MacArthur Strange Fire Conference and security had to get him out. I have always had flags about this pastor and like Hank Hanagraaf someone to watch out for. Heck even Joel Osteen has better manners than Mark.

Oh my goodness, you actually said something remotely positive about Joel. I like the new evangelist.

His "attempt to crash" was to stand outside and hand out his books. His books were a free gift to the attenders - and all of the pictures show him outside. I don't think that's so much of a "crash". :) I like Driscoll. I don't agree with everything he says or does but he's a man of God who is doing an amazing work in a very tough area of the country!

Mark Driscoll is an embarrassment. He's an obvious narcissist, is verbally abusive from the pulpit, and is a proud, overt sexist.

John Mac. is also the above things, though not as abusive, but he's really old news at this point, so I don't pay much attention to him.

I've had mixed feelings about Driscoll. Up to now. No more. Didn't even realize he's that charismatic.

I think that's called "not paying attention."

On his blog yesterday, Southern Baptist pollster Ed Stetzer showcased what he characterized as a "gracious open letter" to John MacArthur:

A Final Appeal to Pastor John MacArthur on the Eve of His 'Strange Fire' Conference, by Michael Brown

Interesting – and probably spot on – letter. I like John MacArthur, but he does go to extremes to demonize opposing theologies. The Charismatic movement is not the only group that he has targeted in such a fashion (he takes the far radical minority and applies it to the whole). The irony is that if MacArthur’s cessation position (which is not explicitly supported by Scripture) is incorrect then he is actually guilty of attributing the work of the Spirit to Satan.

I tried to watch the conference – but where I would expect Scripture to support what was being preached, Calvin was offered instead. Perhaps it was just the one speaker I watched, but I ended up loosing interest and watched Eureka on netflix instead (Nathan Stark died:tear: - but I suppose he'll be back ).

Well his morals, and ethics as far as I know are good. However his theology is in left field. But yes I agree its a real shame when someone like him or a Andy Stanley acts more christian and shows more kindness and fruit over those that preach a more Biblical gospel. What a shame and what an embarrassment some christians are to the name. Mark Driscoll is sadly an embarrassment.

MacArthur and Driscoll need to hear what was told to me long ago "Ego is an impossible master to please"

What a judgment call on Mac. Did you watch what Mac said tonight??? Please...

Oh, so let me get this straight. You seem to relish in the criticism of pastors (preachers) that YOU don't like or that you have issues with , but you are "offended" when those pastors (preachers) that you DO like are criticized.

Its not me its what the Bible teaches. Andy is one whom I dislike as he does not preach the Bible. Show me a sermon where Andy preaches on sin, please do and I will hear it! Even his father is far more Biblical.

Mac is about as close to our position (my personal, my church) as anyone. I appreciate his bold condemnation of the cult of charasmania, in his books and now in this conference.

We are purchasing the cd's of the conference for our church listening library. Amazing cooperation between a wide spectrum of evangelicals brought together in this conference to damn the 'strange fire' that is so harmful to the work of God.

Reminds me of the "old" days of early fundamentalism. Baptists, Methodist, Presbyterians all joined together on basic truth to combat the rising evil of liberalism, modernism and godless evolution. Secondary issues (eschatology, church polity, etc) were laid aside to fight a very real enemy.

is that due to them BOTH agreeing with Jesus and Paul that only males can be Pastors, and that gay lifestyles are NOT to be done if claiming Jesus saved you?
