Have you ever declined to participate in any activity, chosen to pay a bit more than a bill states is owed, or made any other effort to avoid associating yourself with the number 666?

My personal feeling is that the young lady blew a chance to win a state championship for absolutely no good reason. The number is meaningless now, though it certainly will have great and ominous meaning in a future we can only guess at. She should have run. That's my opinion. How about yours?

My opinion? Same as yours. She's superstitious and blew her chance.

She was not using sound reasoning. Besides some early manuscripts have it as 616.

True - however for any other religion - the PC crowd will go out of their way as to not offend someone.

666 is not a big deal- the officials should have honored her sincere, though incorrect belief.

They are quoted at the end of the article.

Makes her appear somewhat disingenuous, for making a public statement regarding why she didn't run, but apparently in private not telling the officials her reasoning. Same for the coach. Seems to be more to it than what they claim.

My first thought was that the individual assumed that "666" was a common knowedge thing.

Do agree there is more to the story....

Yeah, you cannot trust anyone from that state.

Silly superstition. She should have accepted the number with grace. We really need to be teaching our kids critical thinking skills.

Wonder if they would have changed #13's number if requested?
