11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

In all generations, including our own generation there has been a RELIGOUS but lost people who fit this description. These are religoius people who CLAIM THEY HAVE EYES TO SEE AND EARS TO HEAR but really do not:

Mt. 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

Jn. 9:39 ¶ And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

These are the religious who willfully pervert, abuse and deny the truth of God's Word. They claim to have eyes to see but when confronted with the truth they shut those professed eyes and close their professed ears to the truth of God's Word. You find these kind of people on this forum and in your churches - they are as prevelent as they were in the days of Christ.

They can be vicious or they can imitate the fruits of the Spirit, gentlemanly, scholarly but the one trait that identifies, exposes and characterizes them is their RESISTANCE TO THE TRUTH.

    The Religious Masks

These are those TRAINED in self-discipline as the Jews were trained to keep the law so that OUTWARDLY the flesh was restrained and only the RELIGOUS PIETY was made manifest.

These are like the Buhdist monks, and committed Hindu's who OUTWARDLY restrain evil reactions of their fallen nature because their religion and ultimate end depend upon it. Hence, Billy Graham and others who are DECEIVED by the RELIGIOUS EXTERIOR of such cults routinely state they believe that such will be in heaven because of their OUTWARDLY DEVOUT piety.

These are like the Roman Catholics, SDA, LDS and JW's who OUTWARDLY conform to a RELIGIOUS PIETY because their RELIGION demands it for ultimate justification.

However, the SINGLE TRAIT that characterize ALL OF THESE RELIGIOUS DEVOUTEE's is their HATRED and RESISTANCE of the Truth.

They all CLAIM to have eyes to see and ears to hear but as they are routinely EXPOSED to truth they HARDEN by closing their professed open eyes and shutting their professed open ears and the hardening degree is made manifest in the degree of hatred spewed forth against the truth they are exposed to.

There are truly saved people who also resist the truth because of false teaching or having fallen into the trap of Satan, but as they are routinely exposed unto it (if God permits them to be) they will be won to it. God has different vessels in HIS HOUSE for different purposes and He does not always allow all HIS VESSELS of mercy to understand and receive some truths. His children VARY in degree of understanding and growth.

    Couldn't agree more, Biblicist.

I find it shocking and reprehensible that the average professing Christian hasn't a clue regarding the doctrines we discuss here.

I for one, did not learn the doctrines of grace in my local church.

It was through independent study that they were brought to my attention. Much further study, prayer and enlightenment by the Holy Spirit made these most important truths crystal clear to me.

There are those who poo-poo such theological debates as being too heavenly and not any earthly good.

In my view any true Christian should be thrilled to have the deeper things of God unlocked for his/her understanding and edification.

For by so doing, the Christian's faith, service and love for the Lord can only grow stronger and more meaningful.

And last, but not least, is not this debate centered around the issue of eternal life: knowing the true God and His Son?

"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."

I applaud all the men on this board who take a biblical stand for the doctrine of Election. Thank you, brothers, for your faithfulness to your calling and His Word!

Basically this is saying that if you don't believe like me you are blind and there is no reason for me to listen to what you have to say.

So what you want to listen to is those who agree with you and give you a pat on your back. Everyone else you want to show how blind they are and they need to see like you do.

What if it is you who is blind and that God has hidden the truth from the wise and learned who don't care about hearing nothing but what they want to believe everyone else is blind.

    I love this from Jesus.

    Matthew 15:14
Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

    Luke 6:39
He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit?

I believe those who can see need to help the blind not that the blind can't be lead.

So many that are poor in Spirit just begging for crumbs from the rich those who are poor may end up receiving more than the rich who refuse to give to the poor.

There is nothing wrong with being poor it is just wrong not to give even with the little we have been given

Question concerning the flock in general, NOT the shepherds.

If you had to narrow it down and pinpoint the most common single objection, complaint, or reason, for rejecting/resisting the truth among the flock, what would it be?

Why does the healthful teaching have to be watered down or leavened to make it palatable for them?

I know that a number of Arminians have noticed that - I am surprised that the Calvinists have also seen it.

Truth hurts doesn't it? Not one bit of arrongance but just pure unadulterated truthful application of this text. I will be most happy to stand before the the only one who can really discern the true intents of the heart and give full account of what I have said and I will be most happy to repeat what I said and how I applied this text again and again.:wavey:
