There is no spin on your statements. You condemn yourself defending the indefensible and showing what you think of others. You laugh at others misery. You make fun of and call people names who defend the poor, the infirmed, and those in need. And, here in this thread you deny the evils of slavery in your inane comments. You really should be ashamed.

Remember how the last judgment reads in Matthew.

I never denied anything, and that is provable. I am reporting your dishonesty.

Note how the "good ol boys" slander and then play the victim, anything to change the subject from the southerners who led us into war to preserve slavery. They say this is off topic, but they are presenting fiction.

See what I mean. When you have been shown to be what you are you begin calling names. The truth really inflames you ... truth at times hurts.

It would be nice if you would reply with intelligent and rational replies. Why not try it?

ROFL, should I report you every time you call someone a name?

Thanks Crabtownboy, your courage to stand firm against the slings and arrows of outrageous claims by those that deny slavery as practiced in the south was sinful.

Having lost on the facts, they now shout "racist" "liar" and the like. They use every tool liberal politicians use to foist one myth after another upon the American people.

There are many who hate the truth as if they admitted the truth they would have to change ... and that is the last thing they want to do. Far too many neither read not think, just stubbornly hold on to pet, well loved, but false beliefs.

Slavery was a primary reason of the war, the slave economy. If their economy had not been dependent on slaves they would not have fought so hard for many years prior to the war to expand the slave states. If the slave economy was not to their benefit they would have freed them and gone to another economy that did benefit them.

First: No one was laughing at the misery of others or condoning slavery. We have been simply responding to the distortion of you and Van!

Second: Have you looked into a trash bin full of slaughtered babies CTB? And by slaughtered i mean slaughtered; anything from body parts to full term babies. You support this horror so you have lost the right to criticize anyone for anything. ! post a couple of sites for your edification.

How Hypocritical of a pro abortionist! I say a pro abortionist because I use the same rationale you use in accusing others of being pro slavery.

No one in their response to you or Van were condoning slavery. We have been simply responding to the distorted views of you and Van!

Historical facts have been posted on this thread showing not only are you and CTB totally biased regarding the cause of the War of Northern Aggression but that Lincoln violated the Constitution on several occasions and invaded the South without cause and started a war resulting in the deaths of 800,000-850,000 people Lincoln, in light of history, is far from the greatest American president.

Furthermore, it is a total falsehood to imply that anyone on this thread was condoning slavery!

They why do you protest others pointing out the evils of slavery and the dependency of White slave owners on their wealth coming from those slaves?

And using your logic [actually illogical] on calling other pro-abortion then you have just admitted you are pro-death to all who have been born. Think back over you positions and comments on various subjects such as welfare, healthcare, capital punishment and it is easy to see, again using your logic, that you are pro-death.

Whereas I am pro-lie. I am against abortion, I am for helping the poor, the ill, the malnourished, the elderly in need and I am anti-capital punishment.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, has been posted to challenge the fact that Slavery caused the civil war. All these vague references to unmentioned proofs are a joke. They were just talking points to shift discussion from the evil of slavery, the sinfulness of slavery and how anyone who wanted to preserve slavery was mistaken. The SBC split wanting to preserve slavery, and refusing to be rebuked that slave owning made them less than followers of Jesus.

Since Calvinists believe God uses compulsion to cause people to believe, I expect the pro-slavery south leaders within the SBC were Calvinistic, thinking it was ok to use compulsion.

Some folks, primarily Van and CTB, on this thread are unable to face reality.

First: No one on this thread has advocated slavery.

Second: No one on this thread has defended slavery. Reference has been made to the Biblical teaching on slavery.

Third: No one on this thread has denied that slaves were abused by their owners. It has also been mentioned that people do not usually destroy valuable property.

Fourth: It has been shown on this thread that the majority of people in the South did not own slaves. It has also been shown that only a minority in the south owned a substantial number of slaves.

Fifth: It has been noted on this thread that slavery was mentioned in the secession statements of some states.

Sixth: It has been shown on this thread that the South was financially abused by the use of tariffs.

Seventh: It has been repeatedly shown through various links that Lincoln initiated the War of Northern Aggression, purportedly to preserve the Union.

Eight: It has been shown on this thread that Lincoln used the issue of slavery, not out of concern for slaves, but simply to achieve his goal, never mind the cost in human life.

Nine: It has been shown on this thread that Lincoln on numerous occasions violated the Constitution he swore to protect; the first violation being the illegal War of Northern Aggression.

Ten: It has been noted that the Union was formed by sovereign states for the common good. It has been noted that slavery in some states was accepted in the formation of that Union. Furthermore slavery was upheld by the Supreme Court.

Eleven: The false statement has been made ad nauseam that
Twelve: Those who have attempted to educate some folks about the real cause of the War of Northern Aggression have been falsely accused of being pro slavery!

Thirteen: I wonder why the moderator has not closed this thread since it is long overdue! Thirty six pages?????

Fourteen: In the above post Van is questioning the salvation of those old Saints who formed the SBC. I suppose he really questions of all those on this thread who have attempted to educate him but he has to walk softly!

I have not protested anyone pointing out the evil of slavery. I have simply noted their lies and distortions, for example the ad nauseam mantra of Van:

That is a lie and stupid beyond measure.

I am in favor of helping those who are unable to help themselves but I stand with Scripture which tells us:

1 Timothy 5:8. But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

2 Thessalonians 3:10. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

2 Thessalonians 3:12. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

Of course I know that you have little respect for Scripture CTB!

That is a blatant lie. You support the party of death, the party that celebrated the slaughter of the unborn at its last national convention. You support the most rabid abortionist in public life, Barak Hussein Obama! So away with this crap that you are pro life. that is a pathetic and disgusting lie CTB and you know it!

Trying to salve your conscience if you have one which I frankly doubt.

So! YOU FAVOR SPARING THE GUILTY AND SLAUGHTERING THE INNOCENT! YOU ARE SOME PIECE OF WORK CTB.

So you do not like it when you are shown to be pro-death ... using your logic. Be careful in the future of calling others pro-abortion when they are not.

Again, you do not like being shown you are pro-death. So, start being honest yourself and stop using smoky logic.

Matthew 23: 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' 37 "Then these righteous ones will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?' 40 And the King will tell them, 'I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!' 41 "Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, 'Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his demons! 42 For I was hungry, and you didn't feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn't give me anything to drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn't invite me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me no clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn't visit me.' 44 "Then they will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?' 45 And he will answer, 'I assure you, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.'

And you are not willing to help the helpless, the poor, the ill, the in-need and hungry elderly and children and are in favor of killing people wrongly conviced who are on death row.

We now know that there are people on death row who are innocent. Why do you not care if they are executed. Because you are pro-death for those alive.

And you say that because I supported Obama in the last election I am pro-abortion.

Using your logic that shows you are pro-death as the GOP has obstructed every effort to help the poor, the ill and those in need. Also look at the programs that GOP governors have cut for those in dire need and this will without question cost some their life. So, you are pro-death.

When are you going to become truly pro-life?

    Folks

No one is arguing the evil of mistreatment of anyone is Godly. It doesn't matter where in the world it occurs, evil treatment is wrong.

Posting pictures is only showing that mistreatment occurred.

Clyde Barrow was very mistreated in prison and it twisted him horibly. Doesn't excuse his killing, and doesn't condemn those who put 150 some bullets into the car and him.

Unless folks can prove by Scriptures slavery is condemned, your argument fails.

Those of you condemning slavery need to start with the Scriptures and prove your view of slavery is evil.

Until that point is proven, the rest is of very little value.

As long as this thread is, NOT ONE VERSE has been offered which shows conclusively slavery is evil - a sin condemned by God.

Too many are basing decisions upon feelings and not upon the Word of God.

    PROVE you view.

Is slavery condemned in the Scriptures?

I don't find it condemned, controlled - certainly, but not condemned.

    So you support slavery?

    Luke 6:31
    New International Version (NIV)
31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

    New International Version
The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

You cannot violate these two commands and support slavery.

Again you lead with a lie, CTB. There is nothing in my rationale or my posts that indicate that I am pro death or pro slavery. The same cannot be said about you. You admit that you support the party of death in this country, the democrat party.

I confess to be in favor of capital punishment in certain cases. In fact if I had my way every abortionist in this country would be brought up on charges of capital murder. So you see the difference between us CTB. I admit to supporting the death penalty in certain cases; you deny supporting the slaughter of innocent children, 55,000,000 and counting at the rate of about 4000 each day.

You should have responded to the Scripture I presented CYB since they are relevant to the issue you raise. But I realize that you are trying to salve your conscience CTB by posting the above Scripture. The problem CTB is that you are expected to help those mentioned in the Scripture from Matthew. Instead you support the party of death as they try to create a plantation mentality, expecting them to obey the Lord Jesus Christ.

Is there an honest bone in your body CTB. It is you who favor killing the innocent; 55,000,000 and increasing at the rate of about 4,000 each day!

I favor the death penalty for those guilty of treason and capital murder which includes the murder of the unborn.

So! YOU FAVOR SPARING THE GUILTY AND SLAUGHTERING THE INNOCENT! YOU ARE SOME PIECE OF WORK CTB.

This afternoon, at the age of almost 83, I held my first Great Grandchild, a little girl, only 12 hours old. I looked at her, with tears in my eyes, and wondered how anyone, especially a professing Christian, could condone the slaughter of these babies.

Crabtownboy, did you go to the sites I posted and see what you support? You should read again Matthew 23:40. And the King will tell them, 'I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me! Each and every day almost 4,000 babies are slaughtered. Some are no bigger than my thumb, some are as big as my first Great Granddaughter. And it is people like you CTB who are doing it to these little ones. Jesus Christ did not exclude these children CTB, you can count on it!

I hope everyone who is on this forum looks at what the democrat party, with the support of people like CTB, takes a look at these pictures and understand that God must judge this nation harshly for such a holocaust. Some people continue to get upset at the Nazi Holocaust. But folks the American Holocaust has killed 10 times as many humans as did the Nazi.

Neither of these "commands" proves slavery is evil.

One can fulfill both, and be a slave holder.

Again, the Scriptures condemn the ILL TREATMENT but not the slavery.

Slavery WAS practiced and has ALWAYS been a practice from the earliest records of the world. Statements such as: "There was no such slavery in their times." is just inaccurate.

Human mistreatment towards other humankind has also been a part of the fabric from the time Cain slew Able.

Remember Paul? What did he do when he encountered Onesimus? He returned him as his brother to Philemon, HOWEVER Paul did not "free" Onesimus. Rather, Paul remarked to Philemon about the treatment he was to give to Onesimus. Just as the Scriptures state above. One can be a slave owner and a business owner and treat the slaves and employees Scripturally.

I have yet to be shown a place in Scriptures in which slavery is condemned.

US treatment of slaves (as pictured in this thread) were wrong. No doubt.

Such was certainly NOT the treatment of all slaves, and the owners have to answer to God for their conduct. But, it really was no different than any ill treatment of slaves in any historical period.

Remember the Hebrews taken into the palace of the king Nebuchadnezzar? He removed their ability to father children. Mistreatment of others is just so basic to heathen hearts.

I gave two videos (and there are more) earlier in this thread documenting from the very slaves themselves from their own recorded audio and video statements (you can hear the slaves first hand accounts) showing treatment and loyalty.

Did mistreatment occur in the US? Certainly.

    Was such treatment Godly? NO!

Was such treatment normal? More records are showing that as quite far from the truth.

But was that a reason to erect a view of evil that God does not erect?

    Absolutely not.

Prove by Scriptures that God condemns slavery.
