Who Rules America?

Welcome to WhoRulesAmerica.net, a site about how power is distributed and wielded in the United States. It both builds upon and greatly supplements the book Who Rules America?, now in its 7th edition. The book's new subtitle, "The Triumph of the Corporate Rich," reflects the success of the wealthy few in defeating all of their rivals (e.g., organized labor, liberals, environmentalists) over the course of the past 35 years. The story of how the corporate rich won all the big battles is complicated, but most of the answers are in the new Who Rules America? and/or this Web site.

Among the many things you'll find here: supplementary information and updates for readers of WRA; an overview of the American power structure at the national level and an in-depth look at power at the local level; a look at the wealth and income distribution in the U.S.; and an overview of the Four Networks theory of power, which provides the best general theory of power and social change within which to situate the class-domination theory we've developed specifically for the United States.

There's a special section (including photos and first-hand accounts) about a unique elite social club that's been holding its annual California summer retreat for well over a century: The Bohemian Club & The Bohemian Grove. And there are analyses of social movements and social change based on research in the social sciences; critiques of alternative theories of power; links to Web sites and books about power and social change in the United States; and much more. You can use the menu on the left side of the page to navigate through the site (each section heading clicks open to reveal several documents).

Isn't time we all learned who really rules America?

More succinctly, America is ruled by the 1%.

Good thing that's cleared up, now on to more pressing matters - crunchy or smooth peanut butter.

Why don't you start your own thread on it? I hear BB has a very nice forum for polls.

Better yet why don't you read some of the stuff on this site and get educated then come back and tell us what you've learned if anything. That'd be different wouldn't it

Yep they've been with us forever OR. It's a wonder to me how people can keep denying their existence. It's not like they've been in hiding or anything.

I am reading 2 books right now:

THE SHADOWS OF POWER by James Perloff....regarding the Council of Foreign Relations

THE CREATURE FROM JEKYLL ISLAND by G. Edward Griffin

Both are I lightening reads.

Naming Names: Your Real Government

When dark deeds unfold, point the finger in this direction.

This is your real government; they transcend elected administrations, they permeate every political party, and they are responsible for nearly every aspect of the average American and European's way of life. When the "left" is carrying the torch for two "Neo-Con" wars, starting yet another based on the same lies, peddled by the same media outlets that told of Iraqi WMD's, the world has no choice, beyond profound cognitive dissonance, but to realize something is wrong.

What's wrong is a system completely controlled by a corporate-financier oligarchy with financial, media, and industrial empires that span the globe. If we do not change the fact that we are helplessly dependent on these corporations that regulate every aspect of our nation politically, and every aspect of our lives personally, nothing else will ever change.

The following list, however extensive, is by far not all-inclusive. However after these examples, a pattern should become self-evident with the same names and corporations being listed again and again. It should be self-evident to readers of how dangerously pervasive these corporations have become in our daily lives. Finally, it should be self-evident as to how necessary it is to excise these corporations from our lives, our communities, and ultimately our nations, with the utmost expediency.

Zbigniew seems to be a player for Daviid Rockefeller and Carter quite the pawn/dupe.

Yeah he's Obama's "go to guy" on foreign policy too. Or he was last time I checked.

“The technotronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values. Soon it will be possible to assert almost continuous surveillance over every citizen and maintain up-to-date complete files containing even the most personal information about the citizen. These files will be subject to instantaneous retrieval by the authorities. ” Zbigniew Brzezinski, Between Two Ages: America's Role in the Technetronic Era

I've read his book "The Grand chessboard" it's basically a blueprint to what we've seen happening throughout the Bush/Obama neocon administration.

Here's a book review with quotes . . .

http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/zbig.html

If you've read the PNAC document "Rebuilding America's Defenses" you might have noticed it looks like the neocons just cut and pasted from The Grand Chessboard.

Both are intelligent lightening reads. Why yes, I suppose they would be! Drop that heavy burden of using your intelligence when reading this stuff.

Indeed why should we waste time using our minds to think when we can just turn on the tube and be programmed instead?

The days of Harry Reasoner and Wally Cronkite have long passed us by....Now its CNN, MSNBC and FOX. Serious news coverage--Not so much.

For the umpteenth time, AND PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF IT, I DO NOT watch the TV news with any regularity. I probably voluntarily "tune in" less than 10 times a year. Otherwise, if I'm somewhere else, like at my mother's house I might see it another 10 times a year.

So long as I have been a member here I've been subject to a constant stream of people telling me to stop trying to think for myself and get back to the program.
