For the record folks. Salty is not being truthful here as usual when he's referring to what I have said. I have never said the two parties are "identical" and he knows this.

What I have said is both parties are controlled by the same banking and corporate interests. That should be obvious to anyone just from looking at who their biggest campaign contributors are.

The last "presidential election" just happened to be between two "Goldman Sachs/Monsanto" men. Coincidence?

I don't know that is the norm anywhere outside of the national party professionals. Corruption is corruption.

I do see a pattern of behavior on the left that justifies the corruption in the Democratic Party. I do not see that same tendency among Republicans. Perhaps in mainstream Republican leaders, and definitely in the media that expect to find it, but not in normal Republicans.

In our House seat, NC district 11, I strongly opposed Republican Charles Taylor. He was one of the most corrupt politicians I have ever known personally but he justified it by bringing home lots of federal money for projects in his district. The fact that those projects only seemed to enrich those wealthy individuals who gave to his election committees did not seem to matter. But we voted him out and got rid of him. Then Democratic representative Heath Shuler turned out no better using his position on the TVA board to enrich his personal real estate portfolio. So I voted for Republican Mark Meadows, who I don’t know personally, but he has not stolen from me yet.

I know it is a generalization, but the Republican party seems to hold its politicians to a much higher standard. Nixon resigned for over Watergate, a much less serious offense then those committed by Obama or Clinton and you don’t see anyone calling for them to resign, at least not from their own party.

I would submit that the Tea Party is the extreme right wing of the Republican Party.

If it is "extreme" to support the U.S. Constitution, it's proper interpretation as the founders wrote it, if it is "extreme" to support limited government and minimal taxes, a balanced budget and the responsible governance of the people via the federal mandate while leaving the rest of governance to the individual states, then I guess they would be extreme.

I think that's hooey, however. That is true conservatism.

I agree with that. After it was shown that Nixon had lied a number of Republican Senators led by Barry Goldwater went to Nixon and insisted he resign! He did rather than put the country through impeachment and possible conviction.

I consider myself a Conservative with a few libertarian ideas. That being said I believe the Republican Party with all its faults is far more ethical than the democrat party. Most off the political leaders in the democrat party are rabid supports of the slaughter of the unborn and toadies of the militant homosexual movement.

As for those who proudly claim to be independent thinkers. The government is run by the majority party so where does that leave the independent.

Originally I registered in the Keystone State's Constitution Party.

When I departed the Keystone State for the Volunteer State, I affiliated myself with that state's Constitution Party.

In the dozen presidential elections that have taken place since I became eligible to vote, I can recall only voting for one of the two major political party's candidate for POTUS about three times.

As to where I stand politically, I suppose one would say that I usually (but not on every single issue) would side to the extreme conservative wing of the Grand Old Party.

What is reasonable to one may not be reasonable to another.

When I ran for State Assembly - I was endorsed by the Conservative Party. I requested the enorsment of the extremly samll NY Constitution Party. The subject of Abortion came up, I said I am 100% pro-life. "but what if the bill to be voted on allowed abortion for the life of the mother" I stated that I would vote for that bill - as to stop the vast majority of abortions. Since I was willing to "com[tp,odr" on that I was considered pro-abortion by the Constitution Party of NY.

Reasonable is in the eye of the beholder - as is moderate, and extreme!
