I disagree - as there are major diferences between the two.

I think some people have a problem with the word compromise.

Our Constitution was based on compromise

How much are you willing to compromise?

Note the question is "Which Party do I MOST identify with"

Both major parties are corrupted and entirely useless to me as a voter. I vote independent first. Then I look at the candidates before voting one way or the other. I never vote single ticket.

The old Saltmeister is busy building strawmen again I see.

For the record folks. Salty is not being truthful here as usual when he's referring to what I have said. I have never said the two parties are "identical" and he knows this.

What I have said is both parties are controlled by the same banking and corporate interests. That should be obvious to anyone just from looking at who their biggest campaign contributors are.

The last "presidential election" just happened to be between two "Goldman Sachs/Monsanto" men. Coincidence?

Okay so Salty has built another strawman argument. It'll be interesting to see how he goes about knocking this one down. Maybe we're suppose to "compromise" with the other banker/corporate controlled party? Okay. To what end? Ours?

Do proceed on ole great and wise Saltmeister.

Right wing -- Tea Party -- of the Republicans. Our House leadership just as well be Democrats. I'm thoroughly disgusted with Boehner et al. We need a new direction, and if we can't get one through the vote or through a Constitutional convention, we need to just pack up and leave.

I don't know that is the norm anywhere outside of the national party professionals. Corruption is corruption.

I do see a pattern of behavior on the left that justifies the corruption in the Democratic Party. I do not see that same tendency among Republicans. Perhaps in mainstream Republican leaders, and definitely in the media that expect to find it, but not in normal Republicans.

In our House seat, NC district 11, I strongly opposed Republican Charles Taylor. He was one of the most corrupt politicians I have ever known personally but he justified it by bringing home lots of federal money for projects in his district. The fact that those projects only seemed to enrich those wealthy individuals who gave to his election committees did not seem to matter. But we voted him out and got rid of him. Then Democratic representative Heath Shuler turned out no better using his position on the TVA board to enrich his personal real estate portfolio. So I voted for Republican Mark Meadows, who I don’t know personally, but he has not stolen from me yet.

I know it is a generalization, but the Republican party seems to hold its politicians to a much higher standard. Nixon resigned for over Watergate, a much less serious offense then those committed by Obama or Clinton and you don’t see anyone calling for them to resign, at least not from their own party.

    Did you read the OP?

"Which Party do I MOST identify with"

Note the word I put in bold!

I voted for right wing of the Republican Party.

I would submit that the Tea Party is the extreme right wing of the Republican Party.

Yep, Boehner and McConnell must go.

If it is "extreme" to support the U.S. Constitution, it's proper interpretation as the founders wrote it, if it is "extreme" to support limited government and minimal taxes, a balanced budget and the responsible governance of the people via the federal mandate while leaving the rest of governance to the individual states, then I guess they would be extreme.

I think that's hooey, however. That is true conservatism.

Light and Nunber both brought up good points.

Often labels are variable. Many currently say that today JFK would be a Repbulican.

    Here is another question :
Has the Repbublican Party gotten more consersative or more liberal?

And you'll notice I placed my vote as independent first.

I agree with that. After it was shown that Nixon had lied a number of Republican Senators led by Barry Goldwater went to Nixon and insisted he resign! He did rather than put the country through impeachment and possible conviction.

I consider myself a Conservative with a few libertarian ideas. That being said I believe the Republican Party with all its faults is far more ethical than the democrat party. Most off the political leaders in the democrat party are rabid supports of the slaughter of the unborn and toadies of the militant homosexual movement.

As for those who proudly claim to be independent thinkers. The government is run by the majority party so where does that leave the independent.

Unfortunately this poll did not allow me to indicate which party I am affiliated with.

Both so-called "major" parties (as well as some of our nation's "third" parties) have set out on a journey to do away with most all of both the economic and social goals that are more in tune with those of the Communist Manifesto (1848) than those that were mentioned in the three most important political documents that were produced by our nation's "Founding Fathers," namely the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the US, and that Constitution's "Bill of Rights."

This poll did not ask which party you are affilated with but rather "Which Party do I MOST identify with"

Many complain that some folks do not read the Consititution as written. It appears that some on this forum are guilty of the same thing when it comes to reading OP's and poll questions.

So KT which political party are you a member of?

Salty, the GOP has become more liberal. At least the entrenched ones.

Originally I registered in the Keystone State's Constitution Party.

When I departed the Keystone State for the Volunteer State, I affiliated myself with that state's Constitution Party.

In the dozen presidential elections that have taken place since I became eligible to vote, I can recall only voting for one of the two major political party's candidate for POTUS about three times.

As to where I stand politically, I suppose one would say that I usually (but not on every single issue) would side to the extreme conservative wing of the Grand Old Party.

I'm willing to make reasonable concessions, but I'm not willing to give in and capitulate, which is all the Republicans and Democrats want.

    Key word is Reasonable.
What is reasonable to one may not be reasonable to another.

When I ran for State Assembly - I was endorsed by the Conservative Party. I requested the enorsment of the extremly samll NY Constitution Party. The subject of Abortion came up, I said I am 100% pro-life. "but what if the bill to be voted on allowed abortion for the life of the mother" I stated that I would vote for that bill - as to stop the vast majority of abortions. Since I was willing to "com[tp,odr" on that I was considered pro-abortion by the Constitution Party of NY.

Reasonable is in the eye of the beholder - as is moderate, and extreme!
