Most fatal illusion

Define "kills", as this kinda goes to the thread you started, yet would not participate in, on what constitutes "being alive".

That is definitely not true about the teachings in God's word. God's truth is a fixed point from which too many are deviating.

 

Um...no. A settled view is a foundation; otherwise, we simply bend and sway whatever way the wind blows.

Should we re-evaluate our views, especially if new information comes to light. But that in no way espouses that we should have no settled views at all.

 

The wildlife department thought they'd be funny and set up a plastic buck on the other side of a small rise. Just where anyone in the area would see just enough to throw themselves down, fix on it, take aim, and think they had themselves a nice little buck.

It seemed sheer dumb luck to anyone moving in from that side of the land.

Pretty darn funny...I don't know how many people that year stood up and went "huh?" and busted up laughing.

So that fixed view actually didn't kill anything or anyone. It just made for a really funny story later, after everyone was really mad about having gotten so excited over the luck of it all, and there must have been a number of people because on inspection, that poor thing had been shot a number of times prior.

 

Atkinson was a theater critic for The New York Times. His comment here is not about life per se, but about art as it is perceived in life. That changes the perspective dramatically. He wasn't making the profound statement CTB want's everyone to think he was making.
