Why do you think that Booth shot Lincoln?

Because a lance was too hard to conceal under a frock coat?

To get the bullet to the other side (of his head).

Because I saw him leap from the Lincoln box to the stage, break his leg and limp away as quickly as possible.

Maybe he was just reacting to a shot he thought was meant for him.

Ah, I forgot to mention the smoking pistol in his hand and him shouting, "Save your Confederate money, the South shall rise again!"

*groan* If your location was not shown as Southwest, with a sense of humor like that, I would have thought that you were English.

I always wondered what "Sic Semper Tyrannis" meant.

For the same reason Charles J. Guiteau shot James Garfield, Leon Czolgosz shot William McKinley, and Lee Harvey Oswald shot John Kennedy -- the same reason, for that matter, every other "three-name" assassin and serial killer did what they did: Mental health, addiction and psychotic issues that led them to believe they had the power to either do whatever they wanted, and/or that their actions would change history and that history would remember them as heroes, not criminals.

And if Booth really wanted the bullet to get to the other side of Lincoln's head, he should have used it a larger caliber weapon. It never got there.
