The Morning Word: Psalm 40:5

Psalm 40:5 Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; there is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, they would be too numerous to count.

It easy to measure our life by our problems instead of our blessings. At its root this is because we are not completely satisfied in God. But if we take a moment to enumerate the many ways God has blessed us, we will come up with a very long list. God meets our temporal needs like food, water, shelter, clothing et. al. He also meets our spiritual needs: forgiveness from sin, eternal life, divine comfort during suffering et. al. As for wonders, God created the heavens and the earth. He not only created them but He keeps them. The earth spins and rotates around the sun because God makes it so. I could go on ad infinitum, ad nauseaum cataloging God's wonders and blessings towards us. Suffice to say that He is a good God. Praise the Lord!

What do you mean by not being "entirely satisfied in God", Brother Herald?


I see it more through the schism of the body and soul. The soul has been libertized via the Spirit, and washed white as snow in the Lamb's blood. However, the body still is bound in sin, and acts accordingly. So, in the flesh, we still desire the things of the world, and our soul yearns to satisfy God.


Our flesh will never be satisified until sin is eradicated when we get our new glorified body...

What do you mean by not being "entirely satisfied in God", Brother Herald?

Dissatisfaction with God manifests itself in many different ways. All of the sins we commit are rooted in dissatisfaction with God. Lust, lying, stealing, coveting, jealousy, greed et. al. are caused by not being satisfied in what God has provided us. God's greatest provision to us is Himself. Psalm 37:4 embodies this principle, "Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart."

Maybe, but the verse you quoted does not say that. Do you have one to support your claim?

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; who can understand it?"

1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world not the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but it is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

The fall of man was rooted in dissatisfaction with God. Eve was deceived into believing the serpent's veiled suggestion that God was holding out on her. Adam, who was not deceived, accepted that premise and ate willingly. Had Adam been fully satisfied with God Himself, he would not have sinned. We are no different. Our delight should be in the Lord (Ps. 37:4). Unfortunately indwelling sin causes us to have treacherous affections (Jer. 17:9; Mark 7:18-23; 1 John 2:15-17).

Maybe, but the verse you quoted does not say that. Do you have one to support your claim?

There is a significant number in "Christiandom" that has attempted to make God into a Super Santa. When that did not work they simply made themselves into little gods, the Word of Faith people. I would say these people epitomize those who are "not satisfied in God"!
