Evangelizing false churches

At a conference recently and a certain evangelist spoke and he had a good message but also encouraged evangelization of false churches and talking with a ministry rep from their ministry thats exactly what they do in their home state. They go to the parking lot and place tracts on every car, etc.. Spoke with my street evangelist partner & he agrees and also wants to do this, however he thinks the homosexual and lesbian so called churches should be our first target. I am not sure as there are so many false churches out here. There are at least 4-5 Joel Osteen clone churches, Word of Faith Churches, United Methodist, Unitarian, American Baptist, New Age, The Emerging Church, and so forth. The seeker churches may be bad however not all of them can I find hard evidence that they are nor proclaiming the gospel, but seem more geared for young Christians so I would be in error to confront them if this is the case, but they all differ. From the 1-2 Pentecostal churches I looked at I found evidence of Fundamentalism, but no evidence they are teaching another gospel and so I will leave them alone. Some of these brothers are also big on street evangelism and open air preaching as I have met some in the past.

Do you evangelize the false churches and how do you do it? Mail out letters? Go to their parking lot and place gospel tracts on everyones car? Open air preach? Go inside the church and pass out tracts? How? I have heard of people placing a tract on every car, open air preaching, and sending letters so every one has a unique style.

I'm with EW&F. I think it is better to spend my time actually ministering to people than sticking tracts on cars (which tick me off and anytime a business does that on my car, I will never go to their business again). OH and going on another church's property to post tracts against their church could be seen as harassment and trespassing. We had a woman who was a politician physically removed from the church grounds for putting her flyers on our cars. No need to antagonize to preach the Word.

I'm with EWF and annsni...I'm at a point where, if someone hands me a tract or a flyer, for anything, I kind of look at it as that person saying "Here, you throw this away."

There are far more effective means of doing things than leaving a tract on someone's car. I'd actually argue that, in my experience with tracts, they're quite unbiblical (again, this is my experience, recalling the tracts I've seen).

Also, as annsni said, going onto another church's property, ostensibly during their own service, could easily be seen as harassment.

Fundamentalist nonsense. If you showed up at my church started to stroll around the parking lot to put tracts on cars, I'd have you arrested.

Why would you focus on other churches, rather than just the community as a whole? If you are evangelizing the community, then surely you will be evangelizing the members of these other churches. If you target them, such as putting tracts on their cars, you are only closing doors. You are pushing them away instead of bringing them in.

So you are Saying churches that teach homosexuality is okay and not a sin are true churches? Well this evangelist and his team do it and have done so to many churches in his state. He actually encouraged handing them to people at a certain false church and I would do the same but since many would be in service place them on the cars.

I agree on Osteen. I have no use for him or his idea of church. He's more like Tony Robbins than like Paul.

(We could wander off topic and discuss the notion of profanity, as each language has evolved from prior languages and somewhere along the line men decided which words were good and which were bad...but that's another discussion for another day.)

Most people don't like to reprove and rebuke. Osteen is one of those. According to him, his message is one of love. Apparently that means Jesus, Paul, and pretty much all of the apostles did not have love, as they taught judgment, Hell, and the need to repent of sin.

While we've nebulously discussed this point, just who is determining which church is false and which one isn't? Are you making that judgment call? Your friend the other evangelist? His team? Perhaps I've overlooked where this question was already answered, and if so, I'll toss out a mea culpa and we'll move on...

I wrote a letter to a church that used foul language on their site, in messages, and they featured a video about their bathroom and used some graphic words and all on their website! An emerging church.

If they do not preach the gospel and preach contrary to sound doctrine!!!!

I wrote another church that had advertisements for New Age small groups, and said on tier site they did not interpret the bible literally, and they also said all Orr religions and even homosexuals are all children of God and no need to REPENT from sin!!! Gal 1:8-9!
