In an interview with French TV station, says number of Muslims residing in US justifies regarding it as a Muslim Country

A few days ago President Obama, in an interview he gave France's Canal+ TV Channel, said that the American people need to be better educated about Islam, since US could and should be regarded as a Muslim country. He said that the number of Muslims residing in the US makes it "one of the biggest Muslim nations".

In reality the US has one of the smallest percentages of Muslims of any Western country. The number of Muslims in the US is approximately 4.5 million, 1.5% of the population, one of the smallest minorities in the US. Since there are approximately 1.5 billion Muslims in the world, the number of Muslims in the US is approximately 0.3% of the world Muslim population. By comparison there are between approximately 6 million Jews in the US, who account for approximately a third of the world's Jewish population. Whereas many Americans regard it as a society based on "Judeo-Christian values", it is doubtful if there is one sane American who would define it as a Jewish country.

Is he a muslim? Don't know. Is he a Christian? No.

Is he an islamic sympathizer? Yes.

But most of all, in order to make the statements he made, he would have to be a complete idiot.

The article is wrong. The exact quote is here: http://m.whitehouse.gov/the_press_o...the-President-by-Laura-Haim-Canal-Plus-6-1-09
He did NOT say we could or should be considered a muslim country. Politifact explains it better:
    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...-claims-america-one-largest-muslim-countries/

I don't support the president; but I don't need to "expand" what he actually said. His words and actions speak volumes without embellishment.

Even that is a gross overstatement of the facts. IOW Just another way to lie.

The U.S., in spite of being one of the most populous countries on the planet (#3), does not even break the top 20 in muslim population.

That neither changes anything nor fixes it. Good grief. Politifact is nothing but spin.

Obama's presidential library will have a golf course and a room for fund raising but the general architecture will be that of an Indonesian mosque.

    A lot of times, yes.

But in their conclusion, they basically concluded Obama was a liar.

    Liar. Liar. Pants on fire.

The liar-in-chief has done it again.

How can we say we preach truth when we don't practice endorsing the truth?

Thanks Don. When I read the thread title and who started it, I IMMEDIATELY figured it was probably not the way the OP was trying to make it look.

When politics makes grown men angry for years and becomes too important in their lives, they'll do and say anything to try to land a blow against their political foes.

Just another example of why people need to let this stuff go and focus on sharing the Gospel and pointing folks to Christ.

What I understand is Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population, unless another country has overtaken it already. We're talking population AND land area vs land area only, right ?

I think from what he said, he's clearly saying that population-wise, there are enough Muslims in the US that we can be considered a country for Muslims just like we are for Jews, Christians, Mormons, etc.

Mormons are dangerous, as are all cults, and they have a history of murder and struggle against the government in Missouri and Illinois and even in Utah.

However, Islam is a stone-age religion that resembles Nazism in their hatred for Jews. I don't think that anyone wants to live in an Islamic country. Yet when Islamists get free of the oppression of their homelands they want to inflict that same oppression on the inhabitants of the non-Islamist countries that gave them sanctuary.

Rev - by posting an article that says something other than what the president actually said, and then defending it, you're NOT endorsing truth.

As I said: the president makes enough mistakes on his own, and doesn't require anyone embellishing it. For example, if the article had focused on what the president actually said--that America has the largest muslim population, NOT that we could or should be a muslim nation--then it is easy, as Politifact pointed out, to show that the president was flat-out wrong.

We must insist on truth in all things, if we expect people to believe that we have the Truth.
