Featured Is it really a faux pas to begin to slam "Ishtar" before "Christ Mass" is over?

    Yep, I am serious!!
I enjoy pointing out the foolishness of trying to tie the birth of The Saviour of the Elect to this "Christmas" "Santa Claus" thing. But I really get going over so called "Celebration" of the Resurrection by the churches with "Hunting the fertility Goddess's Eggs"

I got some really good stuff. If I can wait! O well, maybe at least until the New Year dung is done.

I wouldn't call it a faux pas, but I don't think it's necessary. Just as I don't think it's necessary to slam Christmas.

We hunted chicken eggs when I was young. Then it was fake plastic ones. We're PC now... No eggs.

THank you for your Service Sapper Woody. I appreciate your patriotism.

However, if the Apostles were here I wager there would be much said to us Americans about the way we degrade Christ.

I thought I was the originator of this thought. It is astonishing that so few can articulate "why" they are Baptist and why it matters.

I told a local congregation recently "I am Baptist because I believe Baptist are the closest to the Biblical model for the Believer. If I thought Methodist were the closest I'd be Methodist.

What examples would you give as to how we degrade Christ?

Well, as for me, I am going to enjoy the holidays - New Year's included.

At my school, I've put up a tree and gingerbread house. The day before our 4th grade pajama party (where we will drink hot chocolate and watch "The Polar Express"), I'm going to read the events of the birth of Christ from Matthew and Luke and use my small Nativity scene next to my gingerbread house and Christmas tree as a object for the object lesson.

I did this last year with my 7th graders (minus the pajama party!)

You see, in my public school room as well as in the family and church that I grew up in - we celebrated the birth of Christ and participated in secular winter traditions such as Christmas trees and presents and the Santa Claus thing.

I will teach my 4th graders that the two celebrations are distinct and have nothing to do with each other and that they should feel free to enjoy the entire holiday however their family celebrates it.

When one teaches things correctly, it's not a problem. I knew from a very early age that Jesus was not Santa Claus and that Christmas trees were not in the Bible.

It ain't rocket science, you know.

Do it while you can. soon enough, unless He intervenes it will be a Islam Prayer rug instead of a gingerbread house.

Well I hope that when I wrote "we" it didn't mean me and you or any other devoted, set apart believer in Christ.

Have you ever seen the picture of Santa Clause on one knee at the "Manger scene"?

Have you ever seen or heard "SS leaders" tell their children that Santa's watching you and all the little boys and girls and they better be good if they expect something from him. (I have)

Have you ever seen a Preacher dress like Santa and hand out candy in the Worship area.

To put Santa Clause on the level as Omnipresent and Omniscient degrades the one and only one who is.

need more or is only one enough?

Folks are worried about things that don't matter....They are worried about Santa and Easter Eggs....They are worried about Bible versions....They are worried about the type of beat the music has.....They are worried if a woman doesn't wear a dress and her hair a certain way.....They love to compare themselves to other churches and pat themselves on the back because they aren't like everyone else. They don't have a Santa no wise men at the manger scene. They don't have 7/11 songs. They don't have an NIV anywhere in their sanctuary. How spiritual they are and how proud Jesus must be of them........

thanks, there's another word for the dictionary here.

Legalism. It biblically means: depending on keeping the Law for righteousness before Yah.

Now it has morphed into : trying to be holy and upright as instructed by the Scripture in the midst of those who have not discernment or concern for same but use grace as a doormat.
