    Christians Do go to heaven:
Mr 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
2Co 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
    (KJV)
Php 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
    People in heaven:
Re 19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
    (KJV)
Jesus Christ is going to rule and reign on the earth. The believers will be with Him on the earth at that time. Right now believer's go to heaven to be with the Lord Jesus Christ because that is where He is.
    Jesus Christ is God:
1Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
    (KJV)

Joh 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
John declares Him to be God:
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
    (KJV)
Jesus declares Himself God by calling Himself I am time and time again:

Joh 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
    (KJV)

    I am is God's name.
This prophecy of Jesus's first comming shows that He is God. Who has been from everlasting except God?
    Mic 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. {everlasting: Heb. the days of eternity}
Jesus Knows all things proving that He is God:
Joh 16:30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
Joh 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
    (KJV)

The OP of this thread is so typical of those who go the route that ends up in the easy believe-ism, pray this prayer after me,... folks. One reason the church has grown measurably weaker and less effective in its message of faith and practice.

    Two points:

    1) I am all for evangelism, witnessing, or whatever the term folks want to put on one both living a Godly living testimony and verbalizing that testimony.

    2) Believers ARE witnesses - not "soul winners." The true believer cannot help but be a witness, for that is what Christ stated believers "shall be." (Acts 1)

With those two items in mind, I would suggest that we are not to "lead the person in a prayer" to seal the deal. We are to witness of the grace and mercy of God expressed through and in all our ways.

Also, there is not a single time in Scriptures in which a person prayed to accept the Lord as their savior. Frankly, it really is NOT biblical!

The testimony of those believers of Scripture is that a person believes or does not. They may certainly ask, "What must I do to be saved?" but the response was NOT pray this prayer after me and you will be 100% guaranteed of heaven.

The gospel in simple terms: "Believe" Just as Paul told the jailer.

Here is the prayer let's compare it with the scriptures:

"1)Dear LORD JESUS, I believe that YOU died on the Cross and Rose from the dead for my sins. 2)I ask you to come into my heart and forgive me for my sins, take me to heaven when I die. 3) I now receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus holy name, Amen."

    Let's do check the scriptures.

    1) Ro 10:9 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus...

    The prayer does this

    2) and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead,

The prayer does this if from the heart

    3) you shall be saved.

    The prayer does this

    2) For with the heart one believes unto righteousness

If you say the prayer from your heart this will happen

and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation.

The prayer does this. You pray with your mouth.

Ro 10:13 For everyone, "whoever shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved."

    The prayer does this

Do you believe these verses or not?

By the way, belief ON the Lord Jesus Christ IS repentence. It IS turning away from your sins. You cannot believe on the Lord Jesus Christ WITHOUT turning away from your sins. That's where the struggle comes in for folks to get saved in the first place.

Ac 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

I will agree with you that many folks pray that prayer and don't mean it. Those folks won't be saved. You MUST mean it. Praying that prayer from a sincere heart IS one way of repenting and believing the gospel. Who are you to judge people's hearts wheather they trust in the Lord or not? That's His job, not yours. Just because you were led to the Lord with a specific method, doesn't mean that YOUR method is the only way. The fact is that I am preaching the true gospel. I was saved by praying to God and have no doubt that I am saved by His grace.

These folks confessed with their mouths unto salvation as well:

Joh 11:27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

Ac 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Lu 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Let's look at the thief on the cross:

Confessed that he was a sinner:

But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

Believed on the Lord and asked Him to save him:

Lu 23:42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

What did Jesus say to Him? Did He say, "no you can't call upon me that way"? NO, He said:

Lu 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

    Amen !!!

The only thing i disagree with? This prayer to seal the deal isn't just "not biblical", its a patently false gospel, a heretical perversion of the biblical call to believe in Jesus Christ.

Believe in - to have full confidence in someone's ability, to be persuaded that someone will accomplish a determined plan

It is summed up in Romans 4:21-24
[Abraham] being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. Therefore it was also credited to him as righteousness. Now not for his sake only was it written that it was credited to him, but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

It might help folks to notice that the so-called Romans Road pitch is mostly out-of-context quote mining. Paul's presentation of "How to go to Heaven" ended with chapter 4. Context is key.

The real romans road is about 2 chapters of preaching on the holiness of Hod and man's sin, and then God's grace is mentioned in chapter 4 and his love is not even mentioned till chapter 5!

People today have way too much of a tendency of quickly glossing over sin, quoting Romans 3:23 and telling someone they are a sinner is not really all that good at actually bringing conviction of sin to someone...

everyone will admit they are a sinner, but not everyone will admit that their righteousness is as filthy rags and that their hearts are desperately wicked... and until a person humble themselves and confess their sins to God in this way, they cannot be saved.

Here's my most recent Gospel Tract:

In the beginning of time God created the heaven and the earth, he created a paradise (The Garden of Eden). In this paradise he created and placed the first man and woman, Adam and Eve. God told them that they could eat of all the trees of the garden except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil or else they would die. But Satan, (a spiritual being) appeared to them in the form of a serpent, and deceived and seduced them into eating of the tree. Adam and Eve realized they were naked after eating the forbidden fruit, and they tried to cover themselves with aprons sown from fig leaves and then tried to hide from God. But God came and confronted Adam and Eve and cursed the earth because of their sin. It was at this point that sin entered the world. (Whenever we disobey God, it is called sin)

When sin entered the world, it brought pain and sorrow, this is where evil comes from. Not only did it bring pain and sorrow, but Adam and Eve's sin had corrupted mankind's heart and nature.

Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

Romans 5:19 “For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners...”

1Corinthians 15:21-22 “For since by man came death … For as in Adam all die, ...”

Because of sin, mankind's heart (Including mine and yours) is now wicked and totally depraved.

Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

It is because our hearts are wicked that we choose to sin. This is why we do things like lie, steal, cheat, gossip, manipulate others, and do other things that God says are wrong. For example, God said do not commit adultery (Sex with another person's spouse), But God also said that if you look on a woman and lust after her that you commit adultery in your heart, God also said not to murder, but God also said that if you have hatred in your heart for anyone that you commit murder in your heart. God says not to lie, how many lies have you told in your whole life? How many times have you stolen something in your life? These are only a very small handful of common sins many people commit. The problem with you and I, is that we have wicked sinful hearts.

1John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

The sin that we commit has a penalty/punishment, the bible tells us of a place called the lake of fire, that burns forever, and we are told that it is a place of torment where those who die in their sin will go forever and ever.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Luke 16:19-26 “ There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.”

Revelation 20:11-15 “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

    Now for the good news:

After Adam and Eve sinned, God promised a redeemer that would come and and take away their sin, in the garden after Adam and Eve sinned, God killed an animal and covered their nakedness with the skins of the animal.

2,000 years ago, a virgin named Mary gave birth to a son, who's father was God.

Matthew 1:20-21 “But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. “

Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This same Jesus was born without a corrupted sin nature, because God was his father, this same Jesus Christ was the redeemer God had promised in the Garden of Eden. This same Jesus went around doing miracles; healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, making the crippled walk again, and even raising people from the dead, but those who Jesus was sent to rejected him because he claimed to be God. Jesus was mocked, spit on, beaten, whipped, and eventually nailed to a wooden cross where multitudes of people watched him die.

But why did God let this happen, why would God let his son be crucified? These verse give us the answer:

John 1:29 “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. “

Jesus Christ was just like the animal God killed in the garden to cover Adam and Eve's nakedness, on the cross Jesus Christ had all of OUR sins placed upon him, and he died so that he could take away your sin, and so that you could be made righteous, and so that you would not have to go to that place of torment for your sins when you die. In the Old Testament God commanded the Jews to offer animal sacrifices to atone for their sins, God did this to foreshadow the true Lamb of God: Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 53:3-7 “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.”

Note that Isaiah was written around 700 years before Christ was even born!

After Jesus died, they buried him, but three days later he rose from the dead! Jesus Christ then ascended up to heaven where he waits now and one day...he's coming back again to rule and reign as king over the whole earth and those who have received him as their savior and placed their trust in him, will be resurrected and reign with him!

The good news is this: Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried and rose again, and he's coming back some day, But you have to receive him as your savior, you must ask God to forgive you of your sins and turn from all other gods and religion and place your faith in Christ ONLY!

John 1:12 “But as many as received him(Jesus), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”

Acts 16:30-31 “...what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved..”

John 6:47 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me (Jesus) hath everlasting life.”

Allow me to explain the word believe. The word believe commonly used today, means to acknowledge something as true. For example, if I say I believe in God, I am saying I believe God does in fact exist. The bible used the word believe in a different way. To believe or have faith means to DEPEND UPON or to TRUST in. For example; Suppose you did not have car and went to work, and you normally take the bus home, when you get off work, you or going to go and wait at the bus stop, because you have believe in the bus to come to the stop and take you home. You are going to have faith in the bus. This is what it means to have faith in Jesus. Believing in Jesus is more than believing intellectual facts about Christ. It's about receiving him as your savior and entering a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

1Corinthians15:1 “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved...For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

    continued:

What is keeping you from coming to Jesus? No sin is worth dying and going to hell for, repent and turn from whatever is keeping you from surrendering to Jesus and receiving him as your savior!

Mark 9:43 “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched”

Please ask Jesus Christ to be your savior today. I ask that you please read this tract over again one more time before you put it down. You're eternal destiny depends upon what you do with this message.

Don't wait another single second, Turn to Jesus NOW!

I read the whole thread, more than once. And i can assure you this....saying "tgevprayer does this" a half dozen times is not an answer to the fact that you are abusing scrioture by taking Romans 10 out of context.

Why is it that Paul quotes Joel 2:32 in verse 13, and Peter quotes it in Acts 2, where he when asked "what shall we do?" Peter commands them to be baptized?

Care to take a swing at that?

Story of Angel and Cousin Sarah

Several years ago, My cousin was playing with a lighter in his bedroom. He caught a newspaper or comic book or something on fire and threw it on his bed. There were several people sleeping there. The whole house went up in flames. Everyone got out except for my 3 year old cousin sarah. They had written her off as dead. The whole house was in flames and filled with smoke. An off duty fireman happened to be driving by and saw the smoke. He stopped to help. He looked into the bedroom window and saw her sitting under the window with her hands on her head. He pulled her out and she was burned and has some scars to this day. He asked her how she knew to come over to that window and sit on the ground. She said that the man in the fire told her "Don't be afraid, to go over to the window sit down and put your hands over your head and face". Years later, she recounted her story with me. She said that the man had no face, light shining from it, he was 3 feet tall and dressed in white. He was floating in the corner of the room. My Grandparents were deeply committed Christians. Often times my Grandmother would be up all night, having trouble sleeping, praying for the safety of the family. At the same exact time that the fire was going on, my grandmother was several miles away sleeping in her bed. She heard a voice that told her "There's been a fire, Liz and the kids got out ok". A few minutes later, my Grandfather got the call on the phone "There's been a fire, liz and the kids got out ok" He tried to tell her what they said, but she already knew. The reason that God Spoke to her, I believe, is because it was HER prayer that the Lord was answering. Otherwise, my cousin would have died in the fire.
