I'm Primitive Baptist. I'd say I agree with at least 90% with the mainstreams, especially their soteriology.

And, by saying "your church," do you mean just what the pastor believes? Or is it what every single member believes? Or what?

IMHO, a local church isn't "the pastor's/elders'/deacon's/preachers'" church anyway!!

Keep in mind there are several meainings of the word baptist.

One meaning is explained as:
a name or designation, especially one for a class of things.
Yes every Baptist church is independent but we are united as a rope of sand.

Yes, some religious groups do have a hiearchy - and that is a different example of a demonination.

There's an element of Landmarkism within the church that I don't agree with.

Yes. 33 years ago my wife and I joined and today we are both still very thankful to have found a home with the Old Baptists. Our lives and our children have been blessed many times over from it.

Apparently my local church (I guess that means the "leadership") seems to believe in the existence of some "invisible" / "universal" / etc.

I don't.

I've been with this body for over 20 years, and, yes, we do co-operate with other "Evangelical" churches in our area on things in which the basic tenets of our "Statement of Faith" would not be grossly violated. (EX: We probably wouldn't ask a RCC priest to administer "their kind of baptism.")

Also there's a tendency, at least among our "leadership" to refer to "God's Kingdom" or "doing 'Kingdom Work' [missions, etc.]." So maybe it's just a matter of semantics.

But when one studies the NT usage of ecclesia, invariably one comes up with it meaning a "LOCAL" church. This is on what I base my belief when it comes to matters of ecclesiology.

This really should be an easy question. Most local assemblies have a statement of faith of some sort. There are generally accepted doctrines among those in a single local assembly.
