Exactly 19 years ago this week Bob Dole, as the recently chosen 1996 Republican presidential nominee, faced the same question that Donald Trump has presented his rivals today: whether to support ending the Constitution's guarantee of automatic citizenship for all children born in the U.S.

''For generations, white children of white immigrants, regardless of their status, enjoyed citizenship,'' one reporter said to him, according to The New York Times. ''Now that the new immigrants are black and brown, would you support a constitutional amendment denying them citizenship?'' Dole's reply was unequivocal: "No."

A vast number of Asian anchor babies were birthed in America expressly for their children to receive the rights to USA citizenship. The babies --some in their teens may not have even been back to the States yet and barely speak English.
    Is this practice ethical?

    Bob Dole?

When has Bob Dole been relevant to anything?

That was 19 years ago before we had the problem we have today. I doubt if his answer would be the same if he could be asked that question today.

Do you have any references to back up your comment?

I do not believe he would change his answer.

References? Are you serious? I don't need references to offer an opinion. Bob Dole was a true American. He put the interests of our country way ahead of the interests of people who want to sneak over our border and enjoy the largesse of our taxpayers, destroying our way of life in the process. If I were Donald Trump I would propose to station an entire division on the Mexican border and shoot anyone who ventured across. It wouldn't take very many and they would get the message.

Not at all like that. The East German Communists (no Russians on the wall) were preventing their own people from leaving. They were oppressing the thoughts and actions of their own people. By shooting people who cross illegally into the United States we are defending ourselves from foreign threats, and the invasion from the south is a threat to the United States. It is a threat to our economy, our culture, and our national security.

I am curious. Would you at least try these people in court before you executed them?

And I suppose that you deny Russian influence of the policy.

Of course not. That would remove the fear of certain and sudden death if they crossed over the border.

Why would I deny the Russian influence? I was merely correcting your implication that the Russians were actually guarding the wall.

Why stop there? Wouldn't it be better to hang them? Put scaffolds along the border, hang 'em high, and leave them there for the buzzards. Now THAT'S sending a message.

Your inference was mistaken. You read more into it than was written.

Thanks for not invoking Godwins Law. Though I am not sure that I could blame you if you had done so.

Show all the snark you want. These are perilous times and they call for drastic measures, unless of course, you want Spanish to be your grandchildren's native language while they grow up in a country as poor as any third world country extant today.
