I am watching CNN and this is airing.
They state there are very few details available.

But one thing that came up almost immediately was:

Is there a Planned Parent Hood center nearby?

What are the odds that the front door of the social services building has a "No Firearms" sign?

At least one explosive device was left behind by the shooters. Beginning to sound like a terrorist attack.

So, when are we going to do something about the absolutely worthless gun policy in this country?

Until we do this type of disaster will continue over and over.

Nothing except let law abiding citizens be armed them selves. Remember, this occured in California. The Golden State has some of the toughest gun laws in the country. On the face of it, one can surmise the weapons used probably were not actual AK-47s or other fully automatic rifles. That's due to the BATF licensing regs and the cost to comply with them. If such weapons were used, they were illegally purchased and owned. If they were the semi-auto only versions, then California has outlawed large capacity magazines.

The last I heard, you were an expatriate. So, try to remember the US is not a unitary state like France. It is a federal one.

I understand the sentiment. But that has not been a very good policy so far and I do not see it as a good policy in the future. Allow "good people" easy access to weapons and it means "bad people" will have easy access to weapons.

This is a monster we have created or allowed to be created. It will take a change of policy and a long time to reverse this
disastrous path.

Two points:

1. San Bernardino County is one of the better counties in California for issuing Concealed Handgun Licenses. There are currently about 3,500 CHLs issued to SBC residents.

2. Farooq Saeed has been identified as the possible San Bernardino shooting suspect.

It has been a great policy. Handgun ownership has gone up by 55% since 1995 and the overall crime rate for the same period has gone down by 51%.

Those "good people" have to pass an extensive background check to purchase a firearm.

The "bad people" can't pass the background check and are denied. Over a million applicants, out of 183 million checks, were denied in the past 15 years.

Carpro, did you follow the Inland Regional Center link. It leads to the IRC's Facebook page. The second slide states IRC is "a facility for people with developmental disabilities."
Of course not. That was CNN working on their leftist agenda.

The decrease in crime has nothing to do with gun ownership. The primary reason is the aging population in America. The older a person, and the average age of a population, results in a lower crime rate. Also the tougher standards have helped reduce crime.

Murder, rape and robbery are all down across the U.S because of an ageing population and no-nonsense prison system, according to criminologists.

You percentage of applicants denied is minuscule. Indeed it is laughable as it is so low it is meaningless. To be precise one million out of 183 million is only 0.00546448087%. That is nothing.

Get really tough on gun ownership and punishment of illegal carriers of weapons and the crime rate will fall much further.

Based solely on the name Farooq Saeed Fox News is spinning this as a terrorist attack.
