Was the suffering of Jesus the Christ, death and just what does it mean that Christ, died?

What does died mean,? Died relative to what? Exactly when did he die and how long was he dead? What do/did our sins and or the sin of the world have to with the death, whatever that means, of Christ.

One more thought. How is death relative to blood?

Jesus went through scourging and beatings, humiliation and starvation before he even got put on the wooden cross.

Information I have read from the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel.

On the cross, he was most likely put in a position that meant he would be constantly having to pull himself up to breathe properly.. this leads to someone getting fluid building up in their lungs. The person also can't keep this up for very long. They would also be dragging their body up and down the harsh cross... adding to the greivous wounds along their back and legs etc..

There is a lot more too this also-- such as Jesus being nailed to the cross-- the nails would have gone into his wrists and feet where it would be like getting one of the most sensitive to pain areas in your body and twisting it around and around... eg.... a sensitive nerve.

And then when Jesus had stopped breathing.. appeared dead... the Roman guards nearby were reported to have stabbed him in the side.. where 'blood and water' came out. They made sure he was dead.

Sounds crazy-- but this is what would happen to someone who had been on a cross and had fluid build up in their lungs.. it is a medical condition. Blood would come from the wound and so would fluid from the build up. I think it is called Pericardial Effusion.

So Jesus was dead. That is the first part of sorting this out. He did not somehow 'swoon' and then revive later in the cool of the tomb.

Most people would not survive the kind of beatings and torture Jesus went through before even getting put on the cross to be crucified.

I believe He did rise again later .. but supernaturally.. not because He wasn't dead in the first place.

So this is part of the answer.. there is more also to come.

What did the blood of Jesus, do for Jesus? Was, blood, required for Jesus, born of the virgin? Is, blood, required for the resurrected Jesus in flesh? If not, what replaced the blood?

'The wages of sin is death.' Christ drew our wages, and 'Has abolished death and brought immortality to light through the Gospel' (2 Tim. 1:10).

Christ also took our punishment and experienced hell on our behalf during those three hours of darkness. I think it is very significant that when He was first offered wine mixed with myrrh to drink, He wouldn't take it (Mark 15:23). He had to drink the cup of God's wrath to the very dregs on our behalf (Psalm 75:8; Matt. 26:42).

Christ was faithful unto death (Phil. 2:9). Had He only suffered but not died, our sins would not have been atoned for. In fact His whole life was a propitiation of God's righteous anger against sin. He lived the life of perfect obedience that we cannot live, and He died the death that we deserve to die.

He died as a Man. Obviously God cannot die.

If I have understood correctly, He died shortly after the ninth hour on the Friday and rose early on the Sunday Morning. That is three days because the Jewish day began at sunset.

The vicarious death of Christ allows God to be 'Just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus' (Rom. 3:26). Justice and mercy have kissed 'Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before You' (Psalm 89:14).

One more thought. How is death relative to blood?

Read Lev. 17:11. The blood of the Lord Jesus falling on the ground took away the curse of Gen. 3:17 (cf. Rev. 22:3).

The pericardium is actually a water sack around the heart, protecting it. I believe the water came from there.

I know this sounds trite, but go read Hebrews. It is going to tell you about how Christ was the perfect sacrifice.

Also, the passage you cite in the OP is the most condensed version of the gospel....the good news. The good news is that Christ died for our sins. That is good news!

Not sure what the point of this thread is? Jesus physically died on the cross. When the spirit departs, the body dies. Some also claim Jesus spiritually died meaning He was spiritually separated from God. At best this is speculation. The important fact is what He did, He fulfilled His mission, for He said, "It is finished."

Is it the breath of life from God, the Father of Jesus in the blood that makes the flesh, soul living? Is that breath of life from God, spirit of you?

When Jesus commended his spirit into the hands of the Father and it was no longer in the blood, was the flesh of him soul living or soul dead?

Was Jesus living or dead? Is that the meaning of Christ died for our sins?

What was given to make atonement for the soul? The blood I say for that is where the spirit (breath of life) from God the Father resided in the Son to make his flesh soul, living.

Did the Son of God die for our sins?

Wow. No one is going to establish the fact that Christ died by talking about the metaphysics. The Scriptures say He died. If one wants to argue about the Gospel accounts, go back to the law. Did lambs and goats die? Why? Why their blood?

If he doesn't receive it, then move on, knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
