Trump winning the evangelical vote

Question: How is Trump winning the evangelical and "Christian right" vote?

He is running against four others who --
1. Are open about their Christian faith and the impact on their lives
2. Have been consistently more conservative on social issues
3. Are as conservative (or almost conservative) on other issues
4. Have more experience/knowledge of world affairs
5. Do not swear during campaign rallies

Instead, they rally behind a thrice-married, multi-billionaire who made his fortune by building casinos.

What am I missing?

Yep, you want to checkmark all the boxes for the Seven Deadly Sins, Trump is your guy.

Greed? Check.
Lust? Check.
Wrath? Check
Pride? Check.
Sloth? (as in spiritual laziness) Check.
Envy? (as in wanting what others possess) Check.
Gluttony? (as in overindulgence) Check.

I think you are missing the geographical region where these Trump favoring evangelicals are located. I say they are mostly in the south, you know, closer to the Mexican border. They're not in Iowa, Cruz won with evangelicals there. They're not in Minnesota, Rubio leads among evangelicals. It will be interesting to see if Cruz can win his own state. He leads in polls but barely above the poll's margin of error.

As we look back into History many of our Presidents have had dark marks in their lives.
One example - Jefferson had a child out of wedlock with one of his slaves.,
Others were not so as pure
I am NOT condoning what Trump has done -

And as far as being a Evangelical Christian - well, so was Carter...... need I say more.

Nope sorry, Fox News did not anger folks. Folks are angry at the establishment not Fox News.

Folks are angry at the establishment because Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, etc. are telling them to be angry on a regular basis. Then they have Donald Trump on their programs or talk about Trump every single day.

You're mostly neglecting the racism and racial prejudice and outright anger against President Obama. There is a seething anger amongst a lot of evangelicals that allows them to justify throwing their support behind anyone and anything they feel can counter what they believe Barack Obama and the Dems have done in the last 7 to 8 years.

There's so much anger that evangelical Christians (who are oft to speak of abortion and gay marriage as issues of morality of which their candidate of choice cannot support) went so far as to throw their collective support behind a man who summarily rejects Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as their choice for the 2012 Presidential nominee.

There was so much foolishness coming from evangelicals that the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association removed Mormonism as a cult on its website.

So don't dismiss the level of anger and hatred toward Barack Obama that's once again leading to evangelicals to pronounce their support for a man who represents a lot of things, but certainly not Christ.

This too. And I think you add this type of radicalization by the folks you mentioned above on top of the already out of control anger against President Obama also pushed by the types above, and you end up evangelicals supporting a whole lot of foolishness like Mitt Romney and Donald Trump.

Yea this is the establishment denial of their own garbage. There is not an ounce of truth to it. People can and do think for themselves. They need no one to tell them to be mad. Further, it is statements like your post that continues to further anger folks. Very sad.

To bad angry folks are not as smart as you though huh. At least you can think for yourself huh. Everyone else needs Limbaugh to tell them what to think. Maybe we should all just show up here and have you tells us what to think instead.

What an arrogant attitude.

Agree that people can be angry all on their own. But there is anger and there is seething anger. Talk radio and Fox News tap into this anger and magnify it.

No they don't they show what is going on. People choose to be angry on their own. they get angry because they see guys like Boehner who give into obama. Guys like Mcconnel who talk a big game and then cow tow to the left. They get angry because they see the country headed in the wrong direction and no one doing a thing about it contrary to their promises at election time.

Instead what we see is they are controlled by special interests like the Chamber of Commerce and the open borders people.

Watch 'the establishment' mount their 'anti-Trump insurgency' with a third party run and really, really, really make people angry.

Nope, if Trump gets the nomination, I'm hoping Cruz will be the third party candidate. This would make me smile, plus I'd be able to vote in the Presidential portion of the ballot.

.

Yep, and most people would never know about Boehner or McConnell kow-towing to the Dems unless they listened to talk radio or watched Fox News.

Yep. You know what you're saying is correct. But the very folks who angrily repeat verbatim what the people you mentioned say will continue to say they can think for themselves.

And somewhere along the line of thinking for themselves, they've convinced themselves that you haven't heard the same talking points they are repeating from the same place from which they got them.

Yep again.

It's hilarious. The very same things get repeated and then suddenly, they're all thinking for themselves.Rolleyes
