Hello from California. I'm not too sure what to say here. I've been reading a lot about the KJV vs. modern translations and also about the different types of baptists. I first signed up at an IFB forum, but I realized that I probably don't fit in there. All of the discussions that I've read about the different types of baptists get rather complicated and confusing to me, so I will just say I'm a basic baptist who prefers the KJV and leave it at that.

Thanks for letting me join the forum.

Welcome to the Baptist Board. Enjoy the fellowship and don't take any of us too seriously.

I too prefer my old KJV, but use the NKJV for study and teaching. But I preach from my KJV. Probably because every page is covered with notes and sermon outlines penciled in over the past 42 years of ministry. If I ever lost that bible I would lose everything I know!

Again, welcome to the Baptist Board. Have a great time. :)

Welcome. I am a basic baptist too. :D

Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth (Basil, Ep. ad Eustathius, NPNF II, 8:229).

Poor you. ;) I use the NIV, but preach from the KJV because around here, it's KJV or bust.

Not that big of a loss after all. ;) I kid...I kid!!
