They keep mentioning civil rights, but I'm still confused on what basis in federal law are they adding transgender people to the list of protected classes.

They cannot make transgendered into a protected class without changing the current Civil Rights legislation or by Executive order.

They've decided that an EO would be quicker. And that because of the federal dollars that most public schools receive, they have a right to enforce.

Yes. The current administration is trying to use Title IX to block education funds from North Carolina. Where in Title IX is there any mention of trangenderism? What we have are bureaucrats from the Dept of Ed expanding the legal definitions already in place to suit their agenda.

They are lawless. There shouldn't even be a federal Dept of Ed, in my opinion.

It's crazy and boils down to government bullying. Every entity , at some point, is engaged in either receiving federal dollars or doing interstate trade. Using those two, the government can call anyone to legally submit to the government's oversight on these issues.

It's not in there. But if you want those federal dollars or want to use federal roads, airways etc., to do business, then you have to adhere to the way that the government governs.

The Feds have gotten the states addicted to their own money. It's crazy.

Maybe it is because I have lived in China and the Czech Republic and traveled in both areas. It is puzzling to me why Americans get so uptight about public toilets. It isn't a problem in most parts of the world. Also, maybe, because of growing up in the country where everyone had outhouses, many were two or three holers.

Why not just make all public toilets unisex? Lines for women certainly would not be long as they are so often now. After all the "thrones" stalls all have sidewalls and doors, so there is privacy. So, what is the big problem?

Didn't North Carolina say they were not going to comply and fight it in court and didn't the Feds already say they would continue funding? So why doesn't North Carolina show some real leadership and call Obama's bluff? Let's see Obama try to withhold funding.

Uh, they are calling his bluff. Obama saying that they would continue funding as the case went to court was the result of the bluff being called.

Uh, OK. I'm not really following this story too closely. It just seems trivial compared to other issues we face.

It widens the opportunity for perverts to attack our children in a private environment.
Some smaller toilets have a lock on the door from the inside.
There are no surveillance cameras in toilets.

To all parents - take, do not send your children to a public bathroom until those who support this lunacy are BOOTED out of office!

Trump could take advantage of this especially if it's an executive order that needs reversed.

It's not. Please notice my qualifying phrase, "compared to other issues we face."

Ok, I thought my point was understood let me rephrase it.

Regardless of what else is going on in the world, how is letting men and boys into women's locker rooms and bathrooms in any way trivial?
