Welcome to BB. It can get a bit rough-and-tumble in the politics and Calvinism vs. Arminianism forums, otherwise this is a pretty friendly place. Take a look around. If you have any questions about theology, fire away.

I like your display name, "Nephilim slayer".

Hello Amorphous, and welcome to the Forum, I hope your time here will be blessed and that you in turn will be a blessing to those here.

Not such a bad thing to have grown up as you have, as it may give you an insight not understood by some in regards to the differences between Catholics and Baptists. My advice would be not to stress, as a Christian, what group you might be inclined to "side" with or identify yourself with, but instead to simply seek to understand both groups in light of Scripture. There are many different kinds of both Baptists and Catholics, both doctrinally as well as practically, meaning they vary from nominal to fanatical, like any other groups do. Along with that advice I will also say it is my belief that Forum Discussion is a great way for accelerated learning, as you can pose questions and challenge the understanding you have, as well as the beliefs you may have adopted in your upbringing.

So if you don't mind, I would like to ask you a question, and if you will, just answer from the heart:

    How are men saved?

This is not asked to try to trick you, it is not a trick question, and there is no wrong or right answer (in this thread of course, lol, there is a right and wrong answer for most of us, though that varies from faith to faith), just trying to get insight into what you have learned under the special conditions of having both Baptist and Catholic influence in your life.

    God bless.

    Faith alone in Christ alone.

Denomination, Baptism, Turning from sin, praying, fasting, law keeping, and any other thing will not save.

"if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory,

    but not before God"

And my learning is not from Baptist or Catholic influence, but from what I've read in Scripture and seeking after God.

Excellent answer. And I think that as long as Scripture is the basis for your beliefs you will do well.

    God bless.
