Because Baptists are the only ones capable of expanding a discussion to relevant issues apart from the focal point.

    ;)

But some Baptists have a hard time distinguishing between what is relevant and what is not.

    ;)

The thread is primarily a place where an irrelevant matter can be exported from a thread for the purpose of maintaining the focal issue. See the example in post#2, where a discussion about New Birth Contrasts and Consequences became a discussion about fellow-shiping in the home. The participants in that rabbit trail were two members and one Administrator. While there is humorous aspect to the thread, there is the serious matter of moderating the derailing of an issue as well. As I said, we can see at times where relevant side issues might have to be discussed in order to understand a focal issue, but I think most here would agree that oftentimes that is not what happens, and the focal issue is forgotten.

    The humor is just bonus.

    God bless.

No, no, no, if you wear a kilt you must either carry bagpipes or a sword. It is not demanded that the bagpipes be played or the sword unsheathed, you just have to have them with you.

Now, if it isn't really a kilt but a dress, you must remove yourself to the Other Denominations forum.

    Yes.

However, to prove that it is off-topic, technically, one must import the off-topic material from the thread which is being derailed.

The bright side is that even if you fail to show it is off-topic, you still qualify as being...

    ...off-topic.

    Yes.

    No.

    Rocky road is horrible.

    ;)

There is actually a serious and pointed topic to the thread: it is, as the OP explains, meant to be a thread where the derailment of another thread can be publicly proclaimed. An example is given in Post #2.

However, it is also made clear (maybe, lol) in the OP that because of the nature of the thread, that which is off-topic can be discussed here, such as those in Post #2 being invited to discuss Mother Ship Churches and independent fellowship. So if they choose to do so, they can continue their discussion here, and be...on topic. Because the fulfill the desired intent of the OP.

    God bless.

This would be easier to understand if you wrote it in KJV
but I suppose you were not chosen to do that.

Truly a two-edged choice there. If one carries bagpipes, it is indeed best to be armed lest your audience take offense and insist on showing their displeasure in a less-than-gentlemanly sort of way. However, if you're busy playing the pipes, your sword is unprotected and it can be used against you (and probably will).

Scottish definition of a gentleman: One who can play the pipes — but doesn't.

So, if I post off topic, I am speaking on topic in an off topic thread, which means I have just hijacked the thread?!?!?!?!?

If it were possible to hijack the thread you would then create a paradox would which would immediately cast you into a parallel universe where everyone is not only Baptist but they would all be in agreement with each other on everything.

You don't really want to do that...do you?

    ;)

Would it be off-topic to talk about non-baptists
If so, then I will talk about Calvin, who was a Hyper-Baptist
