See you are BOTH confused. It ceased being your money when it was collected as taxes. It now belongs to the government again to do with as they choose. So it is NONE of your business that they choose to feed some hungry kids with it.

Well it's a good thing that you clarified that for him.

The tax payers money is still the tax payers money. The government works for and is owned by the people. Period.

Thus, if the taxpayers want hungry children to be fed then they should be given food and drink to sustain their life and help them be healthy.

The taxpayers money is in the taxpayers bank account. This money belongs to the government to be used as the government so deems and as appropriated by Congress, even though GOP Congresses tend to want to stop any program that helps anyone including hungry little children. So if you've got a problem with it, blame it on those Congresspeople you "own".

You don't believe that. The only time you really believe that is when they are doing what you want. But that government you "own" appropriated it. So get over it.

I was surprised to discover that our local schools provide free breakfasts and lunches in summer school. The government continues to take over the role of the parents, and has to raise taxes to do so. Still, I can't be worked up over it. Kids shouldn't be hungry at school.

If it came with a decrease in food stamps to parents, I would applaud. Feed the kids without rewarding the parents for their irresponsible lifestyles. But, alas, this is not the case.

BTW, it's not the church's job to provide welfare services, nor can churches do this efficiently on a large scale.

I don't know how we could possibly forgotten that once a city collects taxes and creates a police department, it's then none of the citizens' business if those cops decide to shoot certain people, and there should be no criticism of that.

Nice try. But the government is not collecting taxes with the express intent of forming police departments that go around and shoot certain people. But if you hear any different, let me know. I'll dispatch BLM.:Thumbsup

So my personal responsibility to be charitable must go through the same government that promotes homosexuality and sanctions abortion, so that those in need just see a handout from a faceless bureaucrat?

People vote. That is where they show their interest and by writing letters. So it is the taxpayers business and they should be responsible in their civic duties, like voting and letter writing.

Yes, and if you do not like it either run for office and win or work for the candidate that you want to win.

And is it no longer His business, since I've got that "something" and can do whatever I want with it? That's your reasoning on here.

You and zaac are opposed here. He said it is NOT the taxpayers' business. Which one of you is right?

In this case I think you and I are right and that other guy is wrong. Agree?

The question I asked was a corollary of what you brought up-- the Matthew 24 judgment. I there is anything unintelligent or illogical about, it goes back to your insertions.

That is a great question! And he will try to answer, but only sputter out with the same old rhetoric and liberal jive from the bleeding heart left!

If it's my responsibility, whey should the government grab for it?

And what about the responsibility to earn one's own bread?

Or even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies. Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread [II Thessalonians 3:10-12].
