That covers foods. It says nothing about tattoos, body piercing, consulting psychics, clothing with more than one fiber, etc.

Here is a link to an easy place to see the Biblical bans. Look at them all.

Here is the list again with the foods removed

    Premarital sex
    Tattoos (Leviticus 19:28)
Divorce in any circumstance (1 Corinthians 7:10-11)
Buzzed haircuts and beard trimming (Leviticus 19:27)
Working on the weekend (Exodus 31:14-15)
    Wearing fabric blends (Leviticus 19:19)
    Gossipping (Leviticus 19:16)
Women talking in church (1 Corinthians 14:34)
    Hiring a psychic (Leviticus 19:31)
    Getting remarried (Mark 10:11-12)
    Homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22)
Women dressing provocatively (1 Timothy 2:9)
    Ripping your clothing (Leviticus 10:6)
Women wearing jewelry (1 Timothy 2:9)
**Something that I will not mention here because it is forbidden due to forum rules**

So now we have these left. Let's take a look at the context of Leviticus:

Leviticus 1:1 "The Lord called Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying,2 “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them,"

So these commands were given to the Israelites - NOT to us. The only ones that are re-mentioned in Scripture are gossiping, hiring a psychic and homosexuality. All three continued to be condemned in the New Testament and are both things that we should NOT be doing. Now we are left with this list:

    Premarital sex
Divorce in any circumstance (1 Corinthians 7:10-11)
Working on the weekend (Exodus 31:14-15)
Women talking in church (1 Corinthians 14:34)
    Getting remarried (Mark 10:11-12)
Women dressing provocatively (1 Timothy 2:9)
Women wearing jewelry (1 Timothy 2:9)
**Something that I will not mention here because it is forbidden due to forum rules**

The "divorce in any circumstance" is completely a misrepresentation of the verse because even though it mentions verse 11, it disregards it since it says "(but if she does, she should remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband)". Jesus himself in Matthew 5 tells us "“It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. So we see that we can remove "divorce in any circumstance" because that is false.

"Working on the weekend" is again an incorrect statement since the weekend includes Saturday and Sunday - two days and I don't see anywhere in Scripture that we are not allowed to work on the two days of the weekend. Yes, there are commands about the Sabbath and I do believe that we should take a sabbath rest each week. If it was wrong to work on the weekend, then every single pastor and his family would be breaking God's law and I don't think that is the case. Instead, we have our Sabbath on Mondays.

"Women talking in church" - again we need to address the context since earlier in the letter we see that women are prophesying in church so it is not "women talking in church".

Getting remarried - We can see that it is only wrong in certain circumstances when we read the passage. Should a widow remarry, it is not wrong.

Women dressing provocatively - Yep, this is wrong.

Women wearing jewelry - this is not forbidden in this passage and one reading the passage can clearly see that. This passage says our jewelry should not be our basis of beauty. But that's easy to understand when you read the passage and see that we are not to dress with costly apparel or jewelry but with good works. Where would you purchase good works? I don't look good in orange so can I get it in another color?

I will leave the sexual issues as is because it is not appropriate to discuss those here but let's just say that God is pretty clear on our use of our bodies, marriage, intimacy

Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you. And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law. You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace [Galatians 5:2-4].

I assume from this irrational reply that you say all bans have been negated, including that one by Timothy. Right? Your reply only speaks to circumcision.

Did Christ say he came to destroy law? No he did not. and this raises questions to deep for me to understand or answer.

    Scripture says this:

“For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 5:18-19

“It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid.” (Luke 16:17)

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.” (Matthew 5:17)

“Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law” (John7:19)

He FULFILLED the law. The requirements of the law were fulfilled.

He fulfilled the law and therefore we can be saved. But his own words say that he did not destroy the law. If he destroyed the law, how much of the Old Testament do we simply thrown out?

Thank God for his sacrifice, for his grace.

But this does not give us an excuse to ignore the law and, as I said, this leads to questions to deep for me to understand, explain or answer.

We don't simply throw out anything but we understand the context of the law, who it was given to and what Jesus had to say from when He walked on this earth. The danger is when we take one verse out of the context of the whole Bible and then decide what God says based on that one verse. There are a LOT of things God commanded that are not commands for us.

I agree, but those bans are in scripture. We, in our modern world, do ignore most of them. How bad that is I have no idea. But they are there and we cannot just excuse them away. If we can we can use the same excuses on the Ten Commandments.

The New Testament is what we are to follow. The moral law of the O.T. is not changed much into the NT, but the ceremonial law is almost nonexistent because there is no ceremony that looks toward the true sacrifice (Hebrews 10:1 makes it plain that the OT sacrifices could never make anyone perfect).

I'm a bit surprised that you are continually pushing O.T. law (or else it's just that comparison thing to push immorality), instead of pointing out that when Jesus went over a list of commandments he listed the man's-relationship-to-man portion-- the humanitarian aspects of the law rather the clean/unclean and all that. But unless there's a turn in the progress of this thread, I will quit this one.

So Christ was wrong in saying he did not come to destroy the law.

And, are you suggesting we totally ignore the Old Testament?

And in your second paragraph, if you believe that why do you oppose policies that will help people in need?

Just who did "destroy" the law, then, considering scriptures like Hebrews 10:1, Colossians 2:16?

That game's over. Several times you have refused to answer my question about the Matthew 24 judgment and whether a person's place there will be determined by whether the government each lived under was socialistic or not. So I won't answer anything you ask about the subject.

Yes, they are in Scripture but so are verses that say things like, "Build an ark", "Put your son on the alter", "Kill everyone in the city", "Wash with mud" and stuff like that. Does that mean that when we don't do those things we are just ignoring them?

    Romans 13

8Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. 9For this, “YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT COVET,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” 10Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

    Galatians 5
14For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”

Love is the fulfillment of the Law.

    Matthew 19

16And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” 17And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18Then he said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER; YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY; YOU SHALL NOT STEAL; YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS; 19HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER; and YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”

    Which ones?
