We Baptists call it "pack the pews".

Authorities are also pushing back against the perception that the CIA workforce was cheering for the president. They say the first three rows in front of the president were largely made up of supporters of Mr. Trump’s campaign. An official with knowledge of the make-up of the crowd says that there were about 40 people who’d been invited by Trump, Mike Pence and Rep. Mike Pompeo teams. The Trump team expected Rep. Pompeo, R-Kansas, to be sworn in during the event as the next CIA director, but the vote to confirm him was delayed on Friday by Senate Democrats. Also sitting in the first several rows in front of the president was the CIA’s senior leadership, which was not cheering the remarks.

Tactic of using a claque was popularized by Joseph Goebbels.

"Still, as CBS notes, some of the CIA employees who turned up at the speech were probably real Trump supporters; they had to come into their workplace on the weekend to see him, which suggests that some at least were real fans.

So was this real applause, or was it fake? If the applause was, as it appears to have been, partly engineered, the difference is less important than you might think."

Claques can also be used to heckle. Democrats used them extensivly against Trump during the campaign.

Politicians have used them forever. I doubt Goebbels was the first and it was popular before he was even born.

it appears you're just using the time honored tradition of democrats to associate republicans with nazism. Your hate is turning you into someone I no longer recognize.

Nope. Sorry. Claques, by definition are groups of people hired to applause. From the French word "claque" which means to clap.

    Put me on IGNORE.

Once again I state a historical fact, claques were popularized by Goebbels, and that is characterized as being Trump-hate. And I'm called obsessed...

    Depends on where you look.

    Definition of claque in English:

    Pronunciation /klak/
    NOUN

    • 1A group of sycophantic followers:

‘the President was surrounded by a claque of scheming bureaucrats’

    • 2A group of people hired to applaud (or heckle) a performer or public speaker.

So you're saying claques weren't used until Goebbels popularized the? That is demonstrably false.

Your only purpose was the Nazi connection.

No, I'm saying that Goebbels POPULARIZED them. He used them frequently. He used them a lot of the time. He staged many, many claques. More than anyone else previously in history.

    "POPULARIZED." Look it up.

It also happens that I'm currently reading "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich", so it's fresh on my mind.

That mind-reading skill of yours is waning. I'd give it up.

    [HASHTAG]#FakeDefinition[/HASHTAG].

Impossible for it to mean "heckle" since the French word "Claque" means "to clap".

But good job finding the one and only dictionary that supports your viewpoint.

Another falsehood. That definition is in a lot of sources. It just doesn't fit your agenda.

The practice has been around for centuries. It was popular before Goebbels was born.

Your only purpose was to associate Trump with Nazism.

That's awesome that the practice has been around for centuries. You even show a quote from a book purporting to be about 5th century Athens which contained the word "claque". Very impressive, since the first known use of the word "claque" was in the mid-19th century! In France!

    Mind reading again?

You've really gone 'round the bend.

The word may not have been around , but the practice was.

You are really losing it. Getting more ridiculous by the day. Hate to see it. I really do.

Well then you can find at least one other source that says heckle is a definition of "claque". You can, right?
