    Thought that this was interesting:

Malevolence Tempered by Incompetence: Trump’s Horrifying Executive Order on Refugees and Visas

The malevolence of President Trump’s Executive Order on visas and refugees is mitigated chiefly—and perhaps only—by the astonishing incompetence of its drafting and construction.

NBC is reporting that the document was not reviewed by DHS, the Justice Department, the State Department, or the Department of Defense, and that National Security Council lawyers were preventedfrom evaluating it. Moreover, the New York Times writes that Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services, the agencies tasked with carrying out the policy, were only given a briefing call while Trump was actually signing the order itself. Yesterday, the Department of Justice gave a “no comment” when asked whether the Office of Legal Counsel had reviewed Trump’s executive orders—including the order at hand. (OLC normally reviews every executive order.)

Could you point out where that statement by Trump says that DHS, the State Department, the Defense Department, and the NSA reviewed and approved the executive order? Cuz I didn't see anything in there about that. (Which is what the article Rolfe posted was about.)

I am guessing that you did not read the linked article before you posted this accusation.

Probably not. It's likely he is objecting to the use of the word "malevolence" and that's as far as he got before posting.

If so, that's still more thought behind his actions than Trump's used before issuing this EO.

    The Obama-Clinton Ban on Muslims

For all indignation from the Democrats over the so-called “Muslim ban” proposed by GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, one would think they’ve never supported such a thing. Wrong.

According to a investigative report from ABC News published in 2013, the Obama-Clinton State Department stopped processing Iraqi refugee requests for six months in 2011 after it was discovered that two al Qaeda-Iraq terrorists, who had previously attacked US soldiers in Iraq and were trained in bomb making, entered the country as refugees and were living in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Trump is just using alternative fact
It wasn't vetted. Trump and his puppets simply wrote it, he signed it and put it out. Demagogs do not like their demogogary reviewed before trying to put it in place.

I view this as Trump making a clear statement to Terrorists: he isn't going to play with them.

He probably knew that there would be an uproar. I am sure he consulted with people who also knew. To think otherwise would be to assume that Trump took this upon himself without talking with advisors.

    God bless.

Excluding countries where people that flew planes into the World Trade Center from his immigration ban is a strange way of getting tough with them, don't you think?

No, he didn't consult with many of his advisers. Did you read this thread? Or do you just jump in and lay down uninformed opinions? Never mind, I already know the answer.

Like I said, I look at it as simply a statement to terrorists, not an actual policy to be set in place at this time. Think about it: you think it is a coincidence that only the countries named by Congress and Obama as "the most watched countries" were included?

This is just a shot off the bow. The real policy will come, and when it does, it will probably be a general policy that covers any country that has ties to terrorism.

And that is the fantasy land reality of people who think the President can do whatever he wants.

I can guarantee you that Trump consulted with someone. Perhaps not through those normally involved with issues like these, but, I give Trump the benefit of the doubt that there is a method to the madness.

    We will see.

So what is it in the thread that think trumps my view? Your quotes of the media?

    God bless.

I can ask my Golden Retriever for advice, but it still does not make her qualified to give it. The problem is that it appears Trump did not get his from the right places...if he even got it at all.

Jared Kushner, Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, and Reince Preibus are running the United States right now. Be afraid.

Whether it was the "right place" or not is a matter of both speculation and opinion. The point remains.

So that means you guys can stop railing at Trump and redirect your animosity towards these people, right?

Yes. I have wondered why President Obama left Saudi Arabia off that list.

I think the decision to include the countries already named by Congress and Obama as "the most watched" was just a matter of strategy. No-one complained when Obama did it and it reveals the hypocrisy of Liberals who complain when Trump does. That he has gone a step further and actually restricted immigration is, in my view, a legitimate complaint in some ways, but, I think, again, the strategy is to simply get a statement out there that he is serious about dealing with terrorists, and this is just a forward notice. And that is what needs to be done after eight years of emboldening terrorists. A clear statement of a serious campaign against terror will, I believe, do more good than harm. If they know America is fed up with their actions, they will be more careful in what they do.

Let's put 'em back in the closet, I say.

    God bless.
