Humans have debated the issue of free will for millennia. But over the past several years, while the philosophers continue to argue about the metaphysical underpinnings of human choice, an increasing number of neuroscientists have started to tackle the issue head on — quite literally. And some of them believe that their experiments reveal that our subjective experience of freedom may be nothing more than an illusion. Here's why you probably don't have free will.

Science also tells us that there is no God and that we evolved from nothing....I'll stick with the Bible when it comes to speculation.

God says we have been predestined to adoption.

"he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,"
    ~ Ephesians 1:5

    Science is agreeing with God.

Seems like your "free will" is the part that is speculation.

He "determined in advance" (i.e., "predestined") us for adoption as son through Jesus Christ. In fact "Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes." Eph 1:4

Col 1:22,23 states the same: "He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach— if indeed you continue in the faith..." All this was accomplished in the doing & dying of Christ. We are complete in Him.

The thing is [Personal attack edited] came along and decided to eliminate the competition on who is getting into heaven. So they came up with [Personal attack edited] "limited atonement", which naturally included the Calvinist! :)

Sarcasm is for free this time...

Which God? The God of heaven or the god of this world?

I don't know who is changing my post, but if you pay attention I was not attacking MennoSota...I was mocking Calvinism, which is not a person but a theological error! [Edited] is a Calvinist position.

Doesn't matter. Only matter if God does.

The claim that God can't give things free will is absurd.

The claim that Jesus is 100% human therefore cannot have free will either. If he has free will then he is not 100% human.

I cannot not will a billion dollars to appear out of thin air. Illusion trick and distort. The truth that free will is blind folded doesn't negate free will.

    Matthew 22
37And He said to him, “ ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ 38“This is the great and foremost commandment.

This is command from God, he declares his want and desire here. All your heart soul and mind, not some of it or none of it.

I'd love for Calvinist to walk outside and debate the rocks and tell them they are totally depraved and going to hell and have no free will.

At least no free will yet, The Pharisees believed themselves chosen, saved, and the exception from sins.

    Matthew 3
9and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father’; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham.

If God does what? Act according to his sovereign will?

That's not the claim. Read Ephesians 1:5 again.

Not true. God and man both exist in Yeshua the Messiah.

    You are not God.

This verse has nothing to do with salvation via free will or election.

This has nothing to do with salvation.

Why would anyone do that? You're being silly.

Did God choose Israel from all the other tribes and nations?
God is Sovereign. God does as he wills. We don't. Your verse has nothing to do with salvation.

    Please explain Ephesians 1:5.

Thank you for the verses that teach about God's sovereign choice. It is interesting to have you quote verses that refute your own argument, yet you persist anyway.

    Did I use a capital G or a small g?

It is possible for science to agree with God, despite your objections.

Yes, and the majority of them had Him nailed to a cross. They rejected Him. So it wasn't for salvation issues that God raised Israel.

Nope, He cannot sin....He is agape, it's not an attachment...

Much of science is in complete agreement with the Creator because science is observing what God is doing.

I have no idea what you mean by [Edited] God's four and no more." From what website are you getting your information?

Your prejudice is pretty intense, AndThisGospel, perhaps you should take a break.

    Red herring. Try again.

The only thing that pertains to my post is you saying, "Yes."

Good to know you agree that God chooses.

He chooses, but He doesn't force. How did Israel work out for Him? Instead of ushering in the Messiah they had him placed on a tree....

Where do you find anyone claiming God forces humans to do something? Your prejudice is showing.

Do you imagine that God's choice is based upon how worthy the person is? Look at Jacob. You can't find one reason why God loved Jacob and hated Esau. Both were jerks.
God, by His own requirement for atonement of sin, placed His Son on the cross and sacrificed him so that I might be pardoned. This is why Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac is such an excellent type of God's work on our behalf.

Finally, your antisemitism is noted. Please repent.

Read the Bible....The Jewish leadership had Christ delivered to the Romans to be hung on a tree..

Acts 5:27... And the high priest questioned them, 28saying, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.” 29But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. 30The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree.

And the LORD said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the older shall serve the younger...Gen 25:23

The nation of Esau rejected God...The nation of Jacob did not....That's the issue.

You've switched to nations. We are discussing two men.

"Jacob I loved, Esau I hated."

I understand you are going to keep pretzeling to avoid the truth. So be it.
