That's why God cannot have an 'old covenant'. How could God get out of a <<the contract>> He is <<both Sides>> of; which <<He is upholding...all the time>>; which is <<all God's...NEW Covenant>>?
Man o man, of whose 'old covenant' are the <spirit-filled> always talking?
If the Old Covenant was as great as our friend keeps making the claimfor, why did the OT Prophets long for the time of Messiah and the New One he would bring in?The old covenant which is mentioned in Heb 8:8-13. The one that was fulfilled by Jesus Who inaugurated a new and living way, a new covenant. The new covenant is the one that few seem to find...
"You search the scripture because you think that in them you have eternal life, yet it is these which speak of Me but you are unwilling to come to Me that you may have eternal life." And also, "The one who comes to Me, I will certainly not cast out."

The 10 Commandments and the entire dietary and ritual laws werer given to JUST nation of israwel though, and we are just under the obligation now of keeping the moral aspects of the Law period!

I think you need to be a little bit careful here. I think spitting at the throne of God might be an indication that someone is not saved. 'Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit calls Jesus accursed' (1 Corinthians 12:3).I don't want to cause contention but I do feel it's very relevant to say that actually, Jesus has so entirely saved me that I could spit at the throne of God, if I wanted to, and still be saved.
Hi,
I don't want to cause contention but I do feel it's very relevant to say that actually, Jesus has so entirely saved me that I could spit at the throne of God, if I wanted to, and still be saved. Of course, I don't want to spit at the throne of God but the point is is that the onus is upon God and not me. He is the One Who calls me and He will bring it to pass. Regardless of my actions. That is the enormity of the salvation of Christ and now nothing is able to separate me from the love of God. To me, that's REALLY good news! # The vilest offender who truly believes, THAT MOMENT from Jesus a pardon receives. Praise The Lord! Praise The Lord, let the earth hear His voice!# I love that old hymn.
If the Old Covenant was as great as our friend keeps making the claimfor, why did the OT Prophets long for the time of Messiah and the New One he would bring in?
Don't forget:Very good and I agree with your statements. Now the question to you is on how much you believe in Him.
Do you show it by your faith and obedience by including these:
The 7th day sabbath (Honoring the Creator)
Abstaining from unclean foods (Keeping our temples clean)
Forsaking idolatry (xmas, easter)
I think you need to be a little bit careful here. I think spitting at the throne of God might be an indication that someone is not saved. 'Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit calls Jesus accursed' (1 Corinthians 12:3).
The point is that God does not simply save someone and then leave him to get on with his life. He gives him a new heart and a new spirit that causes him to love God and to love his moral law. Have a look at 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.
My hope is in that and the Father's covenant with me. He alone saves, but we must accept the offer by obeying Him.
<<The old covenant which is mentioned in Heb 8:8-13.>> There is NO <<old covenant>>, <<mentioned in Heb 8:8-13>>. The Covenant that Jesus fulfilled and by which He inaugurated a new and living way, was, The New Covenant God in his Eternal Council covenanted. The one that was fulfilled by Jesus Who inaugurated a new and living way ... the New Covenant that few seem to find...
Yes... The New Covenant that few seem to find. "You search the Scripture because you think that in them you have eternal life, yet it is these which speak of Me but you are unwilling to come to Me that you may have eternal life."
But you're speaking of <<The old covenant which is mentioned in Heb 8:8-13>> Now there never was an 'OLD covenant' which GOD, spoke of or concerning Christ, mentioned in Hebrews 8:8-13 or anywhere else in Scripture.
In Hebrews 8:5-13 there is mention of "a Covenant He (Christ) is the Mediator of, a better Covenant"; "a New Covenant I (God) will make"; "the covenant I (God) made with their fathers"; "My (God's) Covenant they continued not in"; "this the Covenant I (God) will make".
This in all is the one and same Eternal Covenant of Grace of GOD, which in the OLD Testament was called the NEW Covenant because it at that time foresaw and prophesied the Messiah; and which in the NEW Testament is called the "Better Covenant" which "Christ is the Mediator" of, which Christ "hath obtained a more excellent ministry" for, and which Christ "established upon better promises".
"For if that first (place) tabernacle (skehneh) which Moses made ... had been faultless, then no place, no true Tabernacle or Sanctuary which the Lord pitched, which the Majesty in the heavens (Christ) is minister and Mediator of, should have been sought."
An <<old covenant>> that GOD covenanted? Never! That CHRIST is Minister and Mediator of? God forbid!
