Firearms Arsenal

And how are you going to pay for this "arsenal?" If the average medium-low quality firearm costs around $500 you are talking about a half million dollars. Where is that going to come from?

I own several firearms, but not an arsenal.

I am not going to purchase new firearms. I am going to purchase used firearms that don't cost as much as new firearms in order to save money.

You don't know a lot about how well firearms keep their value, do you.

So is this arsenal for protection, hunting, or just "look at my toys"?

Hmm, I'm guessing that 'array' to be around 6K?

.;.today's prices..
I just got through punching in on Google used firearms cost less than new firearms and there are several websites that state that what I stated that used firearms cost less to purchase than new firearms do.

used firearms

Many years ago my little brother and I traded a blk & tan coon hound (for real, he was actually scared of the dark, wouldn't leave the lantern light) for a .303 British infield rifle at a local 'Court Day' festival. Immediately went home, purchased a box of ammo, and went to zero the sights in. 50 yds out could not hit the target, 25 yds same, 15 yds same, finally at about 7-10 yds we got an oblong shaped hole in the target. Dad burned rifling was burnt out in the barrel. Oh well, the other guy didn't get much of a coon dog either. :)

True story. Be wary with those 'used' firearms. :)

There is a difference between used and junk. Used firearms do not significantly depreciate until they near the condition of junk.

I plan on amassing a firearms arsenal that will eventually contain 1,000 firearms, which is a reasonable number of firearms to own for a firearms arsenal.

Not really for a personal arsenal.

I have several different kinds of guns because different guns have a different purpose (eg. hunting, trap shooting, varmints, recreation, scaring your daughters' boyfriends, etc) but I also understand that I can only shoot one at a time. So having more than five or six, to me, would just be silly.

Guitars, on the other hand, much to my wife's annoyance, I can definitely see me with 1,000 guitars. Although, in all fairness, as I get older, I find myself returning more and more to the keyboards. Just bartered some tree work for a Hammond B-3, which I've always wanted and got the Leslie for free. But I digress.

There was a website that stated that good quality used firearms can be purchased at cheap prices.

Even if you could get "cheap" firearms, what would be the point of having a massive stockpile of cheap weapons?

Wouldn't it be better to have a smaller collection of high-quality firearms?

With ammo, and optics, and training...

My SIG .9 mm sells for over $1000. My Springer .45 for over $900. Quality is never inexpensive. The old adage holds true, "You get what you pay for."

I remember paying $700 for my 226 9mm in 1995. That was the pistol I used in police academy and carried the first three years after graduating. Then our Sheriff got bitten by the Glock bug. Going from Sig to Glock was like going from a Corvette to a Yugo. (Gen 1 Glock)

So what's the purpose? Self defense, some sort of protection if civil war breaks out? How many rounds will you get off before you are taken out? What good would an arsenal be then? What is the difference between a king trusting in horses and armies than a Christian trusting in an arsenal of guns. I am a hunter. I like to shoot. I find that I hunt more than get but it's fun. But I find little consolation in the ability of my "arsenal" for safety. Maybe I've missed your point but.......................

The purpose of my planning to have a firearms arsenal consisting of 1,000 firearms is four-fold. For self defense, some sort of protection if civil war breaks out, protection against burglars and for collecting purposes.

How does one person bring 1000 firearms to bear for self defense, war, or against burglars?
