Original Scofield. Though, I use it for its concordance not its notes.

I have a large print KJV, a compact KJV and a thin KJV that I keep in the glove compartment of the car... A Thompson Chain Reference KJV in the bookcase... And to top it all off I have Strong's Concordance... I compare translations when you brethren post yours... I'm a poor Christian!(monetarily speaking that is)... Brother Glen:)

There are a few of us on here and this is all I use... Been walking with the Lord over fifty years and saw no need to change it... Like to read the writing of the old preacher, the puritans and others who quote the KJV... Other brethren want to quote their translations go ahead, I will continue quoting the KJV, as I have done on this board off and on over 15 years... Glad to meet another KJV user we are scarce around here as you can see... Brother Glen:)

Yes he definitely is, and for all practical purposes the Nelson Study Bible is Baptist.

BG, why don't you speak in KJV-type language in ordinary conversations?

Ok Rippon I'm game... Correct me if I use the most quoted verse in the Bible among Christians and the world... You see it at almost all sporting events... Is this ordinary conversation?... Your turn!... Brother Glen:Cool

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

No, the KJV-speak of that verse does not demonstrate ordinary conversation of today.

Why don't you speak in 16th century English? (Most of the KJV is really using language of the 1500s.)

Is KJV your heart language? Do you speak to your wife and neighbors in that manner? How about an unsaved person you witness to?

Would William Tyndale (a top 10 hero of mine) who has not gotten enough credit for his massive undertaking want folks living 500 years later using his form of English? I have to qualify that because the KJV revisers made his language more ornate than his more forthright speaking pattern.

I have not checked into the Tyndale translation even though I carry his name on this board... Every word in the sentence I posted is English and can be used in ordinary conversation, except begotten, whosoever and believeth... You can check with my wife who is a retired English teacher.
Is KJV my heart language?... Yes it is... My heart to Gods heart... Do you speak to your wife and neighbors in this manner?... Refer to the previous sentence... How about an unsaved person you witness to?... I share my belief with others and they can see my walk with the Lord... That is my witness.
Now I have one for you... I welcome another member on here that happens to wonder if any others on here read the KJV and I comment I do... Then lo and behold you appear and question my reading and studying of the KJV... What you are implying to me is that the KJV is inferior to other translations and a better one should be used... You use the one or ones you want and l will continue posting the KJV... Brother Glen:)

Using your line of thought, why is the classic literature not updated each generation?
