Calvinists are accused of "following men" or "following doctrines of men" countless times per day in this section. Those who espouse such views typically will exclaim immediately after making such a charge, "I need no other teacher but the Holy Spirit", and judging by some of their posts, it's pretty clear that they've had no teacher.

My question, which I pose to both sides, is, is this statement true? Is it true that a Christian has no need of a teacher?

Secondly, if a man is taught by another man, can we conclude that he follows that man, rather than Christ?

I'll answer my own questions first, I guess.

If it is then Jesus is a liar. He gifted and gave His Church, teachers.

No; however, some will do just that. The apostle Paul said, follow me as I follow Christ, for instance. Good and godly teachers help us to follow Christ, not themselves.

The Spirit of God is the only teacher we have.

However He has gifted certain ones teaching us through them and occasionally speaks through any of us to help our brethren.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches...

That was written by a man, and we are taught its meaning by men.

God uses means to teach us. He uses teachers.
