Uncle Billy finally accepted my invitation to Church this past Sunday. The pastor preached a sermon on the Prodigal Son, and we sang, Just as I Am for a good 20 minutes while the pastor urged anyone who wanted to "accept Jesus into his heart" to come up front. Three people walked the aisle, but uncle Billy didn't budge from the mauve-cushioned pew.

Q: Has God done everything in His power to save uncle Billy?

Q: What does uncle Billy lack that the three others did not?

Maybe he just needs more "time and circumstances" with wave after wave of invitation until he chooses life ... repeated invitations can either soften or harden the heart depending on the choice of the one hearing them.

You have already set this up to do nothing but trash Godly people who desire to reach the lost including "Uncle Billy".
No one is singing "Just as I am" for 20 minutes.

And most pastors do a little more than "urge" people to "accept Jesus into their heart".

You actually understand little to nothing about this whole "Cal/Arm" debate thing....
You think you do....(and we'll all admit there was some unnecessary emotional manipulation with extreme "Finneyinsm" sometimes) but, you're simply a "cage-stage" Calvinist with little real knowledge.

Until you can act like an adult, and speak reasonably, your threads will be ignored.
That scenario exists only in your mind.
Practically no one actually does that.
We do "altar-calls" at our Church...we plead for sinners to come to Christ...like Christ and Paul did.
We often wrap up the invitation by verse 3...I think that's about 2 mins. 20 seconds.
Some people like Altar Calls...and respond positively to them...treasure them even, I know I do. Some people don't, and we reach those people equally as effectively.
You are about 25 years behind the times at least.....good luck with absorbing your Calvinist Polemic like a sponge...and simply re-vomiting it for us all to read for the ten-thousandth time. One day, hopefully, you may actually have an original thought for yourself in lieu of merely parroting tired and ancient Calvinist Polemics we've all heard a million times and it'll feel WONDERFUL!

    LOL....
I randomly guessed at 2 mins. and 20 seconds...in my post

I just realized your You-tube video, is actually 2 mins.-22seconds....LOLOLOL...

You Calvinists are so predictably cute! :):)
I just want to pick you up in my arms and hug and squeeze you to death :p:p
My daughters wanted a hamster for Christmas, but I should give them a "cage-stage" Calvinist and provide a water bottle and a wheel and plenty of clean bedding and give that to them instead! YAY!
    SOOOOO Cuuuute.......... ammmiriiiite?:Inlove:Inlove

I've noticed quite a lot of name calling an hysteria from my opponents here. The same people who claim to be on the side of right. . .

Clearly, by taking such a tact you have reached the depths of your ability to argue for your cause, so yes, please ignore my threads. I would be ever-grateful for that favor.

Is this Uncle Billy or Lazarus? Seems like every time I think he's down, he comes forth yet again.

Is this Baptist Board or Calvinist Board? It seems like here lately anyone who is non cal is treated as non Christian.

He's got nine lives, my Uncle Billy does, but he's used up eight, which is the reason for my inquiries here.

Except no one is calling anyone "names" so.....that's a lie.
No one is in "hysterics"...they just don't take you seriously.
That would be you, sir, since you presumably claim to be on the "side of right"....(what does that phrase mean???)
"Taking such a 'tact'" is a phrase with no meaning, I only speak English...please translate.
    Does "ability" have "depth"?
    Does that even make sense?
    Dude, you sound desperate......
Why not break out some Cotton Mather or something...just quote Edwards for a minute or maybe get a random quote from an I.R.S. agent like Boettner.......!!!!

Seriously, though, can my daughters get a cage-stage Calvie for Christmas and provide it clean bedding and a watterer and some pebbles! They'll name it George, hug it, squeeze it etc...
    I want a cage-stage for CHRISTMAS!...They're so cuddly and warm. :p

I don't know how life survived without them :Smile:Smile

No, just the only Christians on the planet that sing "Just as I am" for 20 consecutive minutes if Brian is to be believed :p

    B.T.W.....
We've been emotionally manipulating our audience with "Softly and Tenderly" for the last 20 years....
not "Just as I am"...That was Billy Graham and George Beverly Shea...
    Now we're all post-modern!

    There's also this version....
Granted we're all a bunch of stupid bumpkins without the benefit of the genius of the Mathers, Edwardses, Owenses and Slicks of this world...
    But we do o.k....

And countless millions are coming to Christ, who-da' thunk it:
I guess God is Soveregn and uses means:

Bob, has God done all He could to save Uncle Billy? What if he has no more time?

Uh, Uncle Billy is the lost man in the illustration. Do you really think the lost desire to reach the lost?

I have seen invitations last a lot longer.

Yes. The including urging them to be baptized and join their church.

Really? You have an altar in your church? Are you Jewish? The only altar I can find in the bible is the one in the tabernacle/temple or a pagan altar.

Pretty hard to 'be God' -- the problem in Calvinism is that it has to "BE God" so often...
In the Arminian model there is no need to "Be God"

but what we do know is this.

In the perfect 4-and-5 point Calvinist future scenario-- we have this.

As you peer over the ramparts of heaven you see your precious daughter writhing in agony in the flames of hell and running to God you cry out "Oh My Lord, My God - my King... see my precious daughter? Couldn't you have done something to save her?"

And then the Calvinist hears that wonderful perfect much-expected response from God --

"Why of course my son - I COULD have .. if I had CARED to"
"now run along - and if it will help I will ZAAAAP your mind so you no longer care either"

And then the Arminian hears that wonderful perfect much-expected response from God --

"Why of course my son - I COULD have .. and I will show you that I most certainly DID !!
-- you love her - and I the MORE
-- you strove to encourage her - and I the MORE for I died for her... paid all of her debt of sin, then
I drew her day after day -- year after year - standing at her door and knocking, inviting, softening her heart
-- but time after time she chose to harden her heart and finally out of mercy I stopped calling out

"the free will choice of sin is painful, rebellion is costly... never forget"

    ====================================================
At the end of the day - we still have that "free will" universe that God sovereignly chooses to establish and maintain.

Yeah, but Calvinism seems to trump Christianity. There is not much love Thu neighbor as thyself inside this sub forum. Its all really turned into sounding brass and tinkling cymbal.

No, I think it is that the Sovereignty of God in salvation trumps any man-made doctrine.

It's the same 4-5 people, repeatedly acting in such a manner, adding nothing to the conversation other than their own idiocy.

You mean, like using inflammatory language and derogatory comments that take away from the point of the thread?
