    Hank,

Yes. There are things we agree on. I have found that individuals who connect on a personal level can overcome some of the divisions between "C & A's", as you call them. The difficulty is between the two theologies and what that means on an ecclesiastical level. For example, I am not just a Calvinist in my soteriology, I am covenantal and confessional. These are not views of mine, they are convictions of mine. I believe them down in my bones. I am sure that most of the "A's" on this board feel the same way about their theological distinctives. That is why there are Reformed Baptists, Free Will Baptists, Sovereign Grace Baptists, IFB's, CBA's et al. It is only on a message board like this one that we find ourselves debating and rubbing each other the wrong way. Sad? Kind of. Predictable? Oh, yeah.

in my studies over the past 54 years I have found that there has ALWAYS been differences among the brethren.
when revival or awakening comes these differences seem to melt away - or are put on the back burner as the LORD refreshes His church.

It has been along time since we have seen a nation wide awakening. I fear the collective conscience of our nation is seared.

Kind of hard to have "harmony" with idiots claiming we preach a false gospel.

Just need to all remember that we are one in Christ, and that we are commanded to strive to keep the unity of the Body, so while we can and do at times really disagree, Jesus still saved us all who are His Own!

While I believe there are some legitimate criticisms of your posts one thing is for sure. You are always gentle and respectful.

Nope. Not how it works. There can be no harmony when they're not interested in getting along

All who are saved have the same Master, and since he accepts us warts and all, should we not show grace towards each other?

    Harmony implies both sides cooperating.

That is clearly not the case here.

Then worry more about people than sides.

Nearly every poster I've run across on this site has, at one time or another, helped me to better understand our faith. Sometimes it's in regards to things I agree with, and sometimes it isn't. Taking a few seconds to say thanks for the dialog has done wonders for my experience here.

They're not of our faith so they have nothing to contribute to our understanding of it.

Harmony does not come in times of "revival". Harmony comes in times of persecution. A common enemy brings unity.

One of the most misunderstood, misused and abused verses in the Bible.

I can guarantee that you and I are not going to be starting quarterbacks in the Superbowl this year.

If it was the will of God you would be. Seriously.

Besides, that isn't what Hank is talking about. He is talking about spiritual matters that with human efforts are impotent.

That is delusional. Seriously, and it's an example of why some people dismiss Christianity.

This is the section of scripture in which Hank pulled out 1/2 a verse and distorted to try to make it apply to anything he wishes. The irony is, it's a great proof text for Calvinism. :)

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”

26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
