However the ancient and long-standing seance issue - goes back to a time before Moses and 1 Sam 28 points this out

Actually Utylian has a point in Matt 17 and Luke 9 if the Bible is wrong about Elijah not dying - raptured directly to heaven and if the Bible is wrong in Jude - regarding the "Assumption of Moses" quote in Jude... then both or at least one of the people speaking would have been a case of the dead communicating with the living ... a seance.
But since the Bible is not wrong in those places - this is a case of the living speaking with the living and so "not a seance'
What a load of bull.
Today you open the bible. You read a message from it. The guy who wrote it is he alive or dead? He is dead. Therefore you are communicating with the dead.
Lets apply your unbiblical well thought out, make it up as you go logic:
"It could only be a form of communication with the dead - if they had written the text... while... dead."
The paper and text you literally read from, was probably written by a printing press, so they are dead when the message is written.
Just having Moses and Elijah show up, speaks volumes to Peter. There is no "ANSWERING" on Peter's part involving Moses and Elijah, if there was no communication.
Go to church next time NAKED, and see if you get any complaints.
Here's the bottom line folks. The Saints are ALIVE in Jesus Christ. You believe the Saints are all dead go ahead believe that.
We do as Christ, He communicates with his saints.
Tip of the Iceberg Folks. These are not the only examples. Anytime Jesus commands a person back to life, he commands that dead person back to life.
Luke 7
13When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her, and said to her, “Do not weep.” 14And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearers came to a halt. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise!” 15The dead man sat up and began to speak. And Jesus gave him back to his mother.
You don't tell live stuff to come back to life. In fact THE DEAD MAN sat up and began to speak.
Do you know what the first thing he said? "what [snipped] you guys having a seance for?"

I'm sure Peter may have inferred quite a few things from their appearance, but there's nothing in the text to indicate that they spoke to him, he spoke to them, or that he tried to contact them.
Yes, alive to Christ, dead to us. That's why the Bible calls them "the dead in Christ".

Christ said, "If you love Me, you'll keep my commandments". Christ commanded us not to have contact with the dead.
Interesting that the text says Christ raised him from the dead, but you still refer to him as dead.

1st GOOD JOB admitting communication with dead.
Christ is our example, 100% human, The prerogative is Love or it is sin.
God doesn't have to cheat, show off, or act in evil.
In every way if you were to act as Christ does it is a good thing. Jesus has given us ALL AUTHORITY in the same way GOD gave him ALL AUTHORITY.

The priority is always brothers and sisters. God is not a megalomaniac.
Hate to disappoint you, but all I "admitted" is that Christ, in His deity, has prerogatives and authorities that we, as men, do not have. One of which, is the prerogative to speak to the dead, if He chooses.
His prohibition to us of necromancy is still in effect.

Jesus Christ did not take out a Ouija board.
Jesus Christ did not sin, he merely prayed.
Sin is not a perk system, All sins are acts of stupidity, God is not stupid, Christ is not stupid.
When I do any good work its on the HIGHEST AUTHORITY and it is GOD GIVEN.

God may speak to anyone He wants. That does not negate the fact that He has forbidden us from doing so.
Actually, this is in the context of doing all things to the glory of Christ, not to contacting the dead.

So it is not a communication from the dead - obviously

The Bible flatly condemns communication with the dead.
But was not written by someone "while dead"
And was not printed by someone who was dead at the time they were printing.
Nothing was done "while dead".
The obvious point... remains. (And I think even you have to know this)

The only "speaking to the dead" that Christ did was when he calls them to life... resurrects them.
You too can speak to any dead person you wish if it is speaking them back into life - raising them from the dead.
Can "you do that" as well?
If so ... fine.
But none of that seance stuff - communication with the dead.
That point remains. Christ does not go around discussing subjects with the dead - rather he raises them from the dead.
God permitted the witch to raise Samual back one time, correct?
Oh, good. Another one. Go ahead and contact dead people all you like. That's between you and God.
All I know is that the Bible prohibits us from doing so and so we're not going to do that.
But you go on and do what you want.
God did allow that one off, correct?
Can you summon the brain cells to understand that because God allowed a pagan to do something one time, that does not make it a normative practice for Christians and does not supersede His general prohibition of that practice?

Wrong - God does not work with demons and witches to get their programs to function.
1 Sam 28 says that God refused to have any living prophet communicate with Saul - so Saul does an "end run" around God - to get a demon to do what God would not do... the proposal that God would then work with the demons ... is not biblically sound.
2 Chronicles says that God "became the enemy of Saul" because Saul sought out the witch and the demon to 'inquire of IT"
I agree with you that only God Himself is ever allowed to do something like that, as we are still prohibited!
