One positive I have witnessed since Billy Graham died is the public declaration of the Gospel from all corners of Christendom. It is interesting to hear unbelievers talking about Billy Graham and his ministry. I am praying that God grants me more divine appointments to talk about the Gospel with people who would typically not be open to it.

Yes, some powerful exhorting by Sister Kathie Lee Gifford went out over the NBC airwaves this week:

Once again I must remind the forum to refrain from criticisms of Billy Graham until some time has passed. Let's have some respect for his family and loved ones.

After sufficient time has passed we will be able to discuss his ministry, both strengths and weaknesses. But not now.

Because we want to show some respect - Is it really that hard?
(FTR I have some critical things to mention myself - but I will wait it out.)

Remember - showing respect is a reflection of your values.

I agree and have deleted my comment. I actually like Billy Graham and listen to his preaching. However, I am somewhat confused by some of the things he has said.

This thread has NOTHING to do with Billy Graham's beliefs. It is about taking advantage of the opportunities God provides to share the Gospel.

No, there isn't! There is the One True Gospel as per the Holy Bible, and there are many "pseudo-gospels", as Paul warns in Galatians chapter 1. There are many so-called "evangelicals" who do not preach the True Gospel.

I'm confused, there is more than One Gospel?

    read Galatians chapter 1

    ***************************************

Yahweh says, "Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord GOD, and not rather that he should turn (REPENT) from his way and live?" (Ezekiel 18:33)
Jesus Christ says, "REPENT and believe in the Gospel" (Mark 1:15); "unless you REPENT, you will likewise perish" (Luke 13: 3, 5); "that REPENTANCE for the remission of sins should be proclaimed in His Name to all nations" (Luke 24:47)
Peter says, "And Peter said to them, “REPENT and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38); "REPENT therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out" (Acts 3:19)

Yet, there are some from the "evangelicals" who teach that "REPENTANCE" from sins to God, is not a pre-requirement for salvation. This, my friend is their "gospel", which Paul in Galatians calls "another gospel", which is a "pseudo-gospel", which these believe to be the "Gospel" taught in Scripture!

But Paul says, "which is really NOT another Gospel."

So there is Only One Gospel.

Yes, for you and myself. But what of those who insist that the key, REPENTANCE is not a requirement before they are saved? Like Greg Laurie, Kent Hovind, and many others, as do some on this very board? We have to always determine exactly what people mean, when they use the term "Gospel". It is like someone saying "I am a Christian", exactly what do they mean? the JW's, Mormons, and all the other "cults" believe they are "Christians", and you probably use the name for yourself, as I do. But we must tell people what we mean, as we are certainly not what they are!

Do you understand what I am getting at? Clarity is needed to be sure.

I think Charles Spurgeon nailed what the real Gospel is, as he was converted by hearing Isaiah preached concerning looking unto Christ to get saved, and He turned and looked and got saved!

All I say is that hope they will believe in Christ. Before they leave this world or until Christ comes back. And leave it at that.

Wait a minute here, what are you saying? You folks constantly tell us that we need not do anything, that all be need to do is believe and we are saved. Now you are saying we have to repent AND be baptized? Oops, sounds like some "works" are coming into the picture from you assessment here.

As for repentance, hah, you are not the first to believe in repentance. We believe in it so much we call it a sacrament, a sacred thing, and if we fall (as humans always seem to do) we can become reconciled to Christ once again. Can I hear an AMEN?

Yep, and only Saved by Grace knows what it is. Since you are Baptist too, how come you are not aware of this true Gospel? . Can't you see the madness that you are now involved in? It's chaos, one Baptist has a different Gospel than another Baptist. Oh well, go figure!

You fail to understand what I am saying. If you see all of my comments on this with Jon, you might understand. If not, I can always clarify it for you

It does not matter what I, or anyone else says about how a sinner is saved and gets to heaven. What really matters is what God in His Word, the Holy Bible says. Jesus Who was God Incarnate while on earth, says in Mark 1:15, at the very beginning of His ministry, "REPENT and BELIEVE in the Gospel". REPENTANCE and FAITH is what saves the lost sinner, and NOT water baptism, which is a requirement for those who are already saved. If water baptism can save anyone, then surely the Lord would have used this, instead of coming and suffering and dying? The Bible clearly says, " without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins" (Hebrews 9:22). It is the "blood" that Jesus shed on the cross, and FAITH in this, that can save a person upon confession of their sins.

And, YES, the sinner has to "work", but NOT in the sense of earning their salvation, but they need to DO. This is very clear from Scriptures like Jonah 3:10, "When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it."

God, "saw their DEEDS (work, KJV), "that they turned (REPENTED) from their SINS. This is the "work", the REPENTING of sins, and TURNING from them.

Likewise in Acts chapter 2, after Peter had preached to 1000's, those who were convicted by the Gospel Message, said, "Brothers, what shall we DO?" (verse 37), to which Peter replies, "REPENT and be baptized" (38). It is the REPENTANCE that saves and NOT water baptism, as Jesus Himself says, "REPENTANCE for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem" (Luke 24:47), with no requirement to be baptized for salvation. Just in case some suppose that FAITH is not required, again Jesus says, "Whoever believes (FAITH) and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned" (Mark 16:16). Note, if the sinner does not BELIEVE, they will be damned, no mention that if they did not get baptized. The thief on the cross both REPENTED and BELIEVED, but was never baptized, and yet Jesus promised him eternal life.

The lost sinner must DO, that is, "REPENT and BELIEVE"
