Looks like the rape case at Southeastern was the straw that broke the camel's back.
...new information confirmed this morning was presented regarding the handling of an allegation of sexual abuse against a student during Dr. Paige Patterson’s presidency at another institution and resulting issues connected with statements to the Board of Trustees that are inconsistent with SWBTS’s biblically informed core values.

I thought they had previously determined that he handled it properly. This is actually making the board look like idiots. There is more to this story than is being reported. My intuition tells me that someone is hiding something.

Oh no!

"May 30, 2018... the Executive Committee unanimously resolved to terminate Dr. Paige Patterson, effective immediately, removing all the benefits, rights and privileges provided by the May 22-23 board meeting, including the title of President Emeritus, the invitation to reside at the Baptist Heritage Center as theologian-in-residence and ongoing compensation."

I suspect it's politics - one side offering too much for past service and another considering how it would be perceived (perhaps seeing Dr Patterson's influence in the initial decision, or maybe seeing hypocrisy in the deal).
