What is It to be Unequally Yoked?

Being unequally yoked to unbelievers covers much area. I think if we want a closer walk we will not become entangled with them and put them in what is rightfully God's place in our agreements with them.
So would being a soldier or being a worked in a non christian company make me unequally yoked? Or how about being in the Congress, as not all in there are saved!

If you are under oath and penalty of law to obey unbelievers, can you follow Christ at the same time?

I still have one open question to this this thread:

Given, we are commanded to choose our friends carefully (Proverbs 12:26), what should we look for in those we befriend? Does whether they are a believer matter? Do other factors matter as much or more?

I open this to discussion. If the thread is dead, then I will start a new one on this question.

For me it was more along the lines of Paul asking "what fellowship does light have with darkness?" I think we witness and move on if they remain where they are. They'll only drag you down otherwise.

I think it means do not become legally bound or place yourself under oath with unbelievers. If we are not allowed to walk after our own flesh, why would we subject ourselves to walk after the flesh of an unbeliever?

Bank loans and contracts do not demand this. Labor unions, marriages to unbelievers, the military, and the civil magistrates do.

Does mean we can't work for unbelievers, nor hire unbelievers? Those are contractual partnerships.

So a really saved person has no unsaved friends to be in their lives? No unsaved family members?

Guess either work for ourselves, or just for Christian owned companies!

I mention because I've always had doubts about the business partnership theory, that most include with being unequally yokes. I think it is merely taking about ministry partnerships, which would include spouses, but I don't think it includes business relationships, unless the business is also a ministry.

I can see it being an issue in how thecompany handles business and personal ethics, as well as how to diversify the profits and where to spend and how to treat the hired workers...
