But is this your calling as a Christian? Again, we are off topic. We should explore this in a new thread.

By "move beyond" you mean "obey?" You don't want to obey scripture?

Psalm 82:3-4 Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

Proverbs 24:11-12 Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?

Let's take this to a new thread. BTW, don't we do all of the above without the collateral damage of countless thousands of casualties when we preach the gospel?

Putting on my Admin hat, "NO." Let this thread continue on the course it's found its self in. Yes, there's been thread drift. But, you started it by taking to task all of us here who are veterans. From where I stand, you've painted us all as disobedient Christians for serving. I wish you could talk to Alvin York and get his thoughts on the matter.

I practice what I preach. Though not my original intent, I am now showing you why I did not join the military based on biblical principles of separation.

I thought the OP about what is happening to the Navy will result in many Christians no longer taking part. And said it is another reason not to become unequally yoked with unbelievers in the military. Scripture gives those shunning military service a clear conscience if needed.

Nothing like that was said in the OP:

So do you think the Navy is right in condoning this?

Are the 'crossing the line' pageants officially sanctioned?
Did any of you sailors have to participate? I hope you weren't the ones in dresses.

No, as the person who started the OP I just wanted to show what has become of today's Navy - it was that simple. Crossing the equator and "dressing up" is a long standing tradition in the U.S. Navy, but what is going on today is not.

My calling as a Christian? Tell me, how else were the Nazi's and Japanese going to be defeated if good men did not take part in subduing them? God uses people in the way he has to, to achieve good in the end. There is a time for every season say the Scriptures - a time for war and a time for peace. Not my words but God's.

Should we become unequally yoked with unbelievers? And kill enemies we are to love? If the love of money is the root of all evil, then all wars are about money or territory, we as Christians are to shun.

Nope....never would have made it in todays Navy.
Back in the the day if someone got caught tail gunning aboard ship it was not unheard, man overboard and then helo pick up.

They couldn’t say they dropped the soap or they would be kicked out.

Oh times of change, God is only love, Socialist Demo Party, everyone is going to heaven, women preachers and no final authority.

    Are we there yet?

Do you have electricity at your home? If so are all the employees of the electric company Christians? If not aren't you unequally yoked?

Do you buy groceries at a local market? If so are all the employees of the market Christians? If not aren't you unequally yoked?

Do you fill your car with gas? If so are all the employees of the gas station Christians? If not aren't you unequally yoked?

Do you pay your taxes? If so are all the employees of the IRS Christians? If not aren't you unequally yoked?

You obviously know this is not what Paul means when he tells us not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. Do not become legally bound or engage in a partnership is more the meaning. Fellowship =

34.7 μετοχή, ῆς f: a relationship involving shared purposes and activity—‘partnership, sharing.’ τίς γὰρ μετοχὴ δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἀνομίᾳ; ‘how can there be a partnership between right and wrong?’ 2 Cor 6:14. In 2 Cor 6:14 δικαιοσύνη and ἀνομία refer to ‘those who do right’ and ‘those who do wrong.’ In fact, in a number of languages one can only translate this expression in 2 Cor 6:14 as ‘how can a person who does right and one who does wrong join in a partnership?’ or ‘how can one who does right and one who does wrong work together?’ In this same verse κοινωνία (see 34.5) has a meaning closely corresponding to μετοχή, and similarly φῶς and σκότος refer respectively to ‘those who live in the light’ and ‘those who live in darkness,’ paralleling closely the distinction between δικαιοσύνη and ἀνομία.

I see. When I do it it is a sin but when you do it it is not a sin.

I don't do that. I gave up a career because I was unequally yoked with unbelievers. That's the difference.
