We know that the antediluvian patriarchs lived extremely long lives. I wonder how long their wives lived? I guess everyone lived very, very long lives.

When did men start to have multiple wives? Was it just after the Tower of Babel or much later at the time of the Judges?

When Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed Lot and his daughters stayed in a nearby small town called Zoar(which means small). But they didn't stay long because Lot was afraid. What was he afraid of? Were the citizens much like the residents of S&G? But God didn't wipe them out because their level of sin wasn't to the degree as S&G.

Do you think that Lot's daughters were resentful of their father? after all, when the men of Sodom wanted to rape the angels Lot told the men to take his daughters and do as they liked with them.

Of course, S&G were not the only cities destroyed by the Lord at that time. Deut. 29:23 tells us that Admah and Zeboiim were likewise obliterated. I wonder if Zoar was also wiped out later? Because it was so close to the other cities, it's hard to imagine that the residents didn't participate in a lot of wickedness as well.

Good catch. We don't know if it was a common practice back then, but we do have Lamech's example.

Abraham was 137 when Sarah died. He then married Keturah and had six children with her. So he was probably in his 140s when he sired them. So the miracle continued --not just for Isaac, but for Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah.
He was just getting warmed up with Isaac.

I wonder how old Keturah was when she became Abe's wife. Perhaps she was a fetching 80 year old. That would make her 57 years his junior. If she was at an advanced age as Sarah then the miracle continued. Maybe the Lord opened her womb as He had with Sarah.

Abraham had concubines. How many? Why did the Lord allow that? I know, I know. He allowed it in the case of other godly men too such as David.

The first mention of concubines in the Bible is in Genesis 22:24 where it references Nahor's concubine.

It took a while for that shorter life span to take place. It wasn't until the time of Moses who died at age 120 that people had much shorter lives compared with the Patriarchs.

Did you hear about that very old Russian woman? Her name is Koku Istambulova. According to documents she's 129 years of age. She was born the same year as my grandmother --1889. A quarter century or so before WW1.

It may be just genetics that shortened the life span. As DNA was handed down, more and more mutations occurred. Eventually it is thought that humans are doomed. Islam, ever backward, allows cousins to marry, causing many medical problems as time goes by.

Polygamy is particularly evil. We have plenty of it in Utah and Islam allows four wives. Doris Hanson has a tv show documenting this American evil and depravity.

In Genesis 41:45 it says that Joseph was given in marriage to Asenath a/the priest of On.

The Lord knows what He's doing. I just thought the Lord would have provided a Hebrew wife for him and not a woman who was most likely a pagan.

We all know how much Jacob (Israel) loved Benjamin, especially after Joseph was taken from him.

But no matter how well we thought of Benjamin it vanishes with Jacob's final words to his son Benjamin:
"Benjamin is a ravenous wolf;
in the morning he devours the prey,
in the evening he divides the plunder." (NIV)

I wonder what things transpired in the life of Benjamin in the 17 years he spent in Egypt by the time his father had died?

You're thinking like a Dispy. As possibly the most detailed type of Christ in the OT it fits perfectly for Joseph to be given a 'non-Hebrew' bride. Here's some 'Things To Think About':

I think it had much to do, not with genetics, but with the growth of germs and bacteria post-Flood.
Before that, the human body didn't have as many attackers to fight off, so, like automobiles in places that do not use salt in the winter, they last longer.


It's been postulated by some creation scientists, that the upheavals, water from the depths and so-forth, ejected mass quantities of bacteria into the "eco-system", and it began to affect the world slowly.

I think this is plausible.

Lot was already afraid before he got to Zoar.

• He was afraid to leave Sodom. After the angels urge him to move and HURRY - he froze. The angels had to pull him and his family.
• He was afraid to go to the mountains for safety as the angels told him to do. He said, "This disaster - [fire and brimstone] will overtake me andI will die!" He didn't seem concerned about his daughters at that point and he couldn't fathom that the town of Zoar that he pleaded to go to was not far enough away.
• The angel had to tell him to HURRY again to Zoar and that he would spare that town but only if Lot got there quickly because he could not protect that town until Lot got there.

Did they resent Lot? I don't know. I don't think so.

I think that these girls grew up in such a sexually immoral town that they didn't have any spiritual marrow in their bones. They seemed to pick up on his fear and their excuse for sleeping with Lot is that they would never find a man to father potential children.

Lot doesn't have a good reputation anywhere in Genesis. The best that can be said about him is that the evil in Sodom and Gomorrah made him sick and that's in the New Testament. But what did he do about it? Did he not want his family away from it?

You're right. Zoar must have been as wicked all the cities the Lord destroyed at that time. But the Lord spared that city because of Lot's request.

He was called a righteous man while living in Sodom. He may have changed for the better later in life. But 2 Peter 2:7,8 says "...Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--

Right then and there he was called a righteous man. The N.T. doesn't reference anything in his life later, but then in the depths of depravity.

I had to think, for a minute, how genetics is determined at the foundational level... by God, not men.
However, our mixing and matching of them produces "breeds", at least from my observations.

Scripturally, I see passages that have God determining the age of men ( Genesis 6:3, Psalms 90:10 ), adding years to their lives ( 2 Kings 20:4-6, Isaiah 38:5 ), subtracting years from their lives ( Psalms 55:23, Psalms 109:8, Ecclesiastes 7:17, Job 22:15-16 ) or both ( Proverbs 10:27 ).

So His curse or blessing directly affects our years.

I did not say there were many races...I said "breeds".
Just as there is only one dog, but many breeds.

Mankind is mankind...but physical characteristics carry over, and can be bred within humans ( to an extent ), just as within animals.
Blue eyes, light skin, blond hair, etc.

Take a look at Hitler and his genetic programs to purify the "Arian" race sometime.
