Should a believer seek to commune with the dead?

1 Samuel 28:6-7
6 When Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by prophets. 7 Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “Behold, there is a woman who is a medium at En-dor.”

Leviticus 19:30-32

30 You shall keep My sabbaths and revere My sanctuary; I am the Lord.

31 ‘Do not turn to a]">mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.

32 ‘You shall rise up before the grayheaded and honor the " aged, and you shall revere your God; I am the Lord.

Is this a rhetorical question? If not the answer is No.
It Rhetorical in a sense, i fully agree that the seeking of communication with the dead is forbidden by the new and old testaments alike. Yet king Saul does it... and receives a message from Samuel. It is a condemnation, yet it was an answer. curious as to how others see this interaction.

No. How often we go to everyone but God and his word to get the answers we seek, and don’t rest until we get the answer we sought. There is always someone out there ready and willing to give ungodly counsel that agrees with our own ungodly desires. Right now there are plenty who will counsel (or say it’s OK) to seek the dead rather than the living God.

The masses are being inundated around the world with witchcraft/necromancy being propagated in all forms of Media, from television shows, movies, video games to turn their hearts from the LORD their God, being deceived into eating things sacrificed unto devils. Deception really began to creep into the Churches because of these things, including Walt Disney Movies such as Peter Pan, Escape to Witch Mountain, The Wizard of Oz, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins, and Harry Potter to name a very few.

Today, in television series based off The Wizard of Oz, for example, we see in Emerald City how much more grotesque witchcraft is fed to the masses, including the witchcraft of transgenderism, of which is traced to the Occult false pagan gods, including Baphomet and Buddha, of which many are being also deceived to embrace.

As touching the subject of King Saul having sought out a witch to seek a familiar spirit, there were adverse consequences for King Saul's rebellion against the LORD. Saul lost more than the crown, he lost his life!

1Samuel 28:6-25 & 1Samuel 31 paralleled with 1Chronicles 10

1Ch 10:13 So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;

1Ch 10:14 And enquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.

Saul defied the LORD when he sought out the witch. Also see Deuteronomy 18:9-14

In Acts 15:19-29 commandment was given to the Gentiles from the Apostles to abstain from pollutions/meats sacrificed unto idols; highlighting verses 20 & 29

We are given discernment in 1Corinthians 10:20-22 that the things sacrificed to idols are things sacrificed to devils, and that we cannot eat from the table of devils and the table of the Lord.

We are further commanded in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 to be separate from infidels and temples of idols.

These commandments came with warnings, all elaborated upon by the Apostles in their Epistles.

Today, it seems that a lot of people have confused grace with works, and cry legalism at the very mention of these passages, as they turn the grace of our Lord into lasciviousness by embracing necromancy, Yoga, and other Occult practices of divination.

We were commanded to be on the watch, and to be watchful in all things by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in Matthew 24.

We have been warned about false teachers by the Lord Jesus Christ's chosen Apostles; Apostle Paul in 2Corinthians 11, Apostle Peter in 2Peter 2-3, Apostle John in each of his Epistles of 1John, 2John, and 3John, as well as by Jude.

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are also told by our Lord Jesus Christ in Revelation 2-3 that there were men in the Church that hold and teach the doctines of Balaam and the Nicloaitans, even with chastisement that Jezebel is being allowed to teach and seduce His servants. The question I raise, is, how many here understand the Lord Jesus Christ's words, and how slumbering has led to the Lukewarm Church that we see today with 54% of Millenials believing that they are Socialists, and with an even greater percentage that has converted to practicing Witchcraft, even denying the Lord Jesus Christ?

Amen... i appreciate your well thought and organized response. This "alternative" spiritual thinking is so pervasive.

Why should they?
  • Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Thank you, PastorCAT, I completely agree.

Many Churches have slumbered and don't know that they have men and women among them that hold and teach the doctrines of Balaam and the Egyptians (Nicolaitans). They have been hiding in plain sight, disguised as Christians, wearing sheepskins. They have usurped positions as Pastors, Deacons, Elders, Sunday School Teachers, as well as being Pew sitters. Can you tell me, if you can identify them, by their title(s) with a single word or two? (Hint: The men wear Fez hats and often participate in Parades with some driving funny little cars. Their common symbol is the square and compass with the letter "G" for Satan).
