If God controls everything, why does Coltrane sound different from Parker? And why do we learn? Why are we able to improve by trial and error?
And why are patients with depression able to change their brain scans thru cognitive therapy? Or brain damaged people able to reroute their brains to relearn things? If we are destined to be something, then we should be no more than what our brains are. But we are not our brains. We can change our brains. This proves freewill.

Another thought: Spurgeon said God controls the dust specks in the sunlight. Does he also control the speed at which they fall? If so, why is there gravity? It seems gravity can do God's work for Him.
    Finally, I ask you:
Why would you want to live in a universe with no choice, no freewill, no chance, no reward for trying?

Seriously, it is clear that God controls pretty much nothing, except perhaps the internal working of the universe, but that apparently is subject to entropy and other forces — perhaps quantum — that have largely negated the original impulse of creation so that God is at the mercy of randomness that he cannot — or will not or, perhaps, dare not — control.
