    Jesus said -
Mat 24:15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

Luke 21:20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 “Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her.
22 “For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

It happened, so the believers left the city & area & fled to the mountains.

A temple built by professed Jews who reject the Messiah will NOT be "THE holy place."

The destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD was not the AOD. Daniel wrote about them separately. He did not say J would be destroyed in the AOD & neither did Jesus. Simple TRUTH is, the AOD is yet to occur.

A temple doesn't need rebuilding. The 'holy place' is currently occupied by an anti-Christ monument called the Dome of the Rock and al Aqsa mosque, and that is sufficient to fulfill all END-TIME prophecies. The Islamic abomination will validate himself on the Temple Mount.

The holy place in Mathew 24:15 is not the 'Holy of Holies' but simply the entire area surrounding temple.

"Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God."

The primary meaning of the word 'Theos' is a god or goddess. The word "TEMPLE" is "any heathen shrine or temple." The word THE is NOT in the KJV but IS in the interlinear. AND - The interlinear capitalized the word God only twice when it's used FOUR times in the verse,...My conclusion is that this is how the verse should be presented....

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called god, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the heathen temple (Dome of the Rock or Al'aqsa mosque) of THE god (Allah), shewing himself that he is God.

The Jews have all the material, tools/instruments to use in temple rites, & an altar consecrated, ready to go into a new temple. They're breeding animals to use in temple rites. The Jews fully intend to build a new temple, & will do so when the time is right.

VERY doubtful that the AC will be a Muslim. That religion is not popular among non-members; neither it nor any of its leaders cally nearly enough charisma nor military might to take over the world.
