Tell me this verse was not intended for Internet discussion boards:

Proverbs 10:19 When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable,But he who restrains his lips is wise.
Not only for discussion boards, but anytime we speak in volume, sin will work it's way in. Staying close to the biblical texts helps avoid this problem malady.

As your spiritual teacher I give this piece of advice to each one of you. Don’t cherish exaggerated ideas of yourself or your importance, but try to have a sane estimate of your capabilities by the light of the faith that God has given to you all.

Romans 12:3, Phillips translation

It says "where there are MANY words...

So, a FEW words are OK (and an emoticon) :)

Staying close to the Word and seasoning our speech.

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.

So the tactics of avalanche and pile-on, where great swaths of verbiage are copy and pasted, or where birds of a feather post like minded views, are unbiblical? Who knew.
