Knowing vs. Feeling in Worship

Of course you are correct here Reformed.
Without a correct knowledge of The Holy,we would offer similar worship to those who danced around the golden calf, in fact that happens quite a bit in our day.
It seems many want to ignore biblical directives, and let the seeker sensitive trojan horse in.
Should Paul have been rebuked in Acts 17 when he spoke of the unknown God,who they were ignorant of?
He could have denigrated knowledge and just led a song service that would make them feel good.
Knowledge for knowledge sake is vanity. Alistair Begg is speaking about "knowledge of". Knowledge of the Word made possible by the work of the Holy Spirit. When Paul wrote, "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God unto salvation" it presupposes that power comes with understanding.

Is faith something that you know, something that you feel, or is it a bit of both?
Rob, what does scripture say?

Romans 10:17
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Hearing is in vain without understanding. Faith can produce feeling and emotion but feeling and emotion cannot produce faith.

So if faith can produce feelings and emotion, why is "How are you feeling?" being maligned as a greeting?

I'm not saying that a church's feeling to knowing ratio can't be out of tolerance, but it seems like quite a thing to nitpick.

If he were to say,”how’s tricks” would you be OK with that?

I can't speak for Alistair Begg but I think he's referring to a call to worship that may have been heavy on whipping people into an emotional response. I have seen this before. Some churches do that slow jam music during prayer in order to "set the mood", as though prayer needs musical accompaniment in order for God to hear it.

Yeah, he doesn't call out the church, which I agree he shouldn't, and we weren't there either...makes the whole thing prone to what ifs, unfortunately. But it seems to me that how we feel is definitely a component of our spiritual health.

I do not disagree. True faith should impact our emotions. I just do not believe it is the other way around.

Yes... and I have been looking for it for a long time. Actually it’s only 921.9 miles, Winter Garden is lovely! And I can wear a hand gun inside. What’s better than that! :Cool

I would have to google it, since i have no idea what that means.

Of course, if you attend church online all you have to do is open another tab, I guess. ;)
Exactly... no muss, no muss. But the church I’m attending , on line, Is exceptional. I highly recommend it.
