Fursuiting

Not going to deny my hobby is weird--basically I like to dress up as animals. At this point I have two partial fursuits, an artic fox and another using one of the animal heads from Walmart (I chose the husky). I may be adding another to my collection this October
Partial suits are the head, a tail, and a set of handspaws.
It gets hot inside the head, but it's fun wearing them to conventions and the like

In case you've run into things less than savory regarding this hobby, I'll add the disclaimer that it's simply playing dress up; I'm not doing anything innapropriate with it

I absolutely agree....it's weird. ;)

My vote is to go with the husky because the first two pictures are destined to haunt my nightmares for the next ten years (assuming I live that long....and I probably won't if I run into anyone wearing that first head).

OK....lots of questions.....The first costume is the better one, IMHO, but it is the creepiest because it looks more realistic...while not looking real, if that makes sense.

Did you use black eyeliner and are the eyes a part of the costume?

Also....when exactly do you get to engage in your hobby? I can imagine Halloween would be an option, but beyond that I'm at a loss.

(Again....#1 - creepy, #2 fun)

Yes :)
I bought it on Amazon

Dude, that first one is scary. The second looks like a mascot and brings up images of minor league baseball. But that first one brings up images of Stephen King.

The first is, however, more realistic.

The eyes came looking like that--actually, I had to make eyelids for him and glue them on with fabric glue, otherwise he gave off a wide eyed stare.

I go to conventions every once in a while when I can afford it, it's fair game there. Otherwise I just take pictures around my house and yard.
I do play the part of the resident weirdo and occasionally wear a set of ears and tail while out and about--maybe you've seen me in one of those weird people from Walmart photos [emoji23] But never full costume in those cases; pretty sure stores wouldn't allow my mask.

What is the objective (realistic appearance or self-expression)?

It's just for fun and nothing more. Most of those times I wear the stuff out and about are when I go to my peer support group (for mental illness)--a couple of the other people there are into similar stuff, so since they're there I like to dress up when I go there. And sometimes the group goes places. Today we went bowling

I'd be cool bowling with you in the second costume. :Biggrin

It is good to find comradeship. The older I get the less important it is to me, but I look back on times when it was more important fondly.
